The Ministry of Foreign Affairs: in a desperate attempt to make China yield to pressure or intimidation, it has never been successful in history, nor today.
At a regular press conference in the Ministry of foreign affairs in April 4th, a reporter asked: in April 3rd of the United States time in the United States, the office of the United States trade representative published a list of proposals for the 301 survey of China's tax products. What's the impact of the US side's measures on China? Can China bear it?
Geng Shuang said in response, there are no winners trade war, a trade war in the country will eventually injure others and ruin oneself. In fact, the US's measures first hurt the interests of the US itself. We notice that the US business community, ordinary consumers, media and think tanks are all concerned about the US's practice and the serious consequences it may cause. Many countries and international organizations also expressed their concerns and objections to unilateralism and trade protectionism. We hope that the United States will listen to these rational and pragmatic voices, and discard the wrong practices as soon as possible, and return to the right track of dialogue, consultation and win-win cooperation.
As for the impact of the US measures on China, I think there will be some influence, but China can afford it.
Looking back on the course of China's 40 years of reform and opening up, we have experienced many challenges, difficulties, interference and pressure. But in the process of resolving, overcoming and coping, our strength is increasing and our confidence is growing. We try to yield to China by pressure or intimidation. We never succeed in history, nor today.
