Payout For Last Week's Charity Fundraiser - Plop

in #charity6 years ago

Ok fab voters, thank you for taking part in last week's post to raise money for youth. Why not head to that page now and give a little? The fundraiser is over however at that page they'll tell you how to give them some money!

Below are my calculations. Alas the STEEM market took a tumble this week so the votes I bought actually returned a loss of 16%!!!! You'll see by the calcs below that a week ago when I bought the votes we were looking at a sweet 12% return, ~SBD2.5 which would have come to something like US$4.50. (That's actually not bad given that I'm a new to this, have no following and I'm a minnow).

However the gods be saying this is not meant to be and we actually got back a bit less than I put in, and that was including the non bought upvotes! So I'm going to calculate how much the non bought upvotes came to and if they came to more than US$1.00 then I will as promised send it on. That is, I'll separate them from the bought votes.

How to do this ...

Ok actually it's not that hard. And this is one of the wonderful things about these blockchain techs, they are transparent. There is a permanent immutable record of every action. Even posts that you edit or delete - the previous versions are kept (so watch what you post - it's indelible).

Go to https://steemworld.org/@petervroom and then go down to recent posts and you'll see the post there. Expand the link and you'll see a button that says "Votes". Click on that and you can see the value of each person's vote.

Alas those values are in USD whereas the payout was in SBD/STEEM/SP so this makes it complicated. I've not yet understood why steemit has things in USD when really STEEM is a world of its own. But that's the way they do it. And as far as I can tell it's some inner connection with USD that caused the votes to make such a loss because really the external price of STEEM and SBD should not affect the internal payout (according to my logic - but it does so I've got some researching to do).

Anyways we can see that @xeldal's vote brought US$26.14 and @ace.korengchina brought US$1.15 and all the remaining votes came to US$0.24 which is nowhere near US$1.00. BTW check out @xeldal's account, it's worth well over US$1 700 000!!!

To see that @xeldal and @ace.korengchina were bought votes go to https://steemd.com/@petervroom and then scroll down to the bottom where you'll see page numbers. Currently it's on about the 3rd page. You'll see that the vote bought from minnowboosters was done by ace. Read from the bottom up for chronological order.

Below you can see SBD20 was transferred to @smartmarket (which is actually a great bot created by @therealwolf. He puts a lot of work into it and is very on the ball when it comes to making sure people are getting their returns. It's just that in the last week he couldn't have predicted what would happen in the market. Plus the SBD print rate dropped which made a difference - see this post for an explication of that.

The bulk of that buy was done by xeldel. It's not as clear which bots smartmarket activates however basically what happens is he lines up as many votes as necessary and makes those votes. If it uses up the full buy then the votes are done and nothing more is sent in memo. If it does not use up all the buy then what is left over is returned by @smartsteem with a note. It is very professional.

Above those votes we can see the organic vote from @o07 which was worth around US$0.05. That by the way is a very valuable vote because you can get 10 votes per day at that value which = US$0.50 per day. This comes to US$3.50 weekly which is compounded weekly which is US$182 per year. His account is worth ~US$2000 which means he's earning almost 10% return on that investment, plus interest on the Steem Power. And as STEEM rises in value in the future that will provide an even greater return. BTW it is my personal belief that STEEM and other cryptos will continue to drop for a little longer before starting to rise again. Though a friend has the opinion that the market is being prepared by big money (investment corporations etc) with all this negative news and once they've bought in we'll start to see positive news again. Who knows, I just know that some cryptos are going to be here to stay and STEEM might be one of them because it has intrinsic value.

To see a record of the actual payout for the post it is on steemd linked above.

Also check out @charitybot's post where they talk about helping out people who are fund raising.

There is also @charitymemes if you're fund raising.

But I digress. Head over to to the fundraiser and give them some money. They Facebook fundraiser is finished however if you contact them on that page I'm sure they'll let you know how to get money for them.
