α-β sobrevivientes

~

English Version:

α-β survivors

~

The three agents, who were running for help, were able to hear the cries of their companions now dead in the distance of the labyrinth. They were chilling cries of pain, had been strangled to death, and some were even devoured before they let go of their last sighs. Of the three members two wanted to return, to help their companions, to avoid the inevitable, but then one of them made them see reason, if 10 heavily armed agents had not been able with him, much less 3 unarmed and mistreated agents, it was a certain death. The priority at this time was to seek help.

They ran through the optimal sections of the labyrinth in order to get as quickly as possible to where the leaders were. Just before arriving at the exit, they met with the support troop they had previously requested. They were a little confused, stunned, and did not manage to correctly modulate each of the words they said, but they could be understood: All the others were dead, we had to attack the creature with another technique. Amazingly for the three alpha agents, the support troop listened to them immediately, and they all proceeded together to the exit of the labyrinth, without much to think about and without looking back.

When they reached the castle garden again, the three alpha agents saw in the distance how they had been helping three of the beta agents, the looks and faces of all those present spoke for themselves, there was no word that could better explain to them all the events of the labyrinth. It was obvious that of each group there were only three survivors, quite wounded and being taken care of by the qualified personnel of the castle. The leaders stared at the behavior of the survivors, the three beta arrived much earlier, they had partially explained what they had lived through. It was the turn of the three alpha agents. Frederick approached them, very kindly asking them about the creature. He was unable to obtain information relevant to the first, but after a few minutes of questioning he was able to better understand the context of the situation.

– "...We were fully convinced that we were taming the beast. He had almost completely succumbed to the high voltages we were applying to him with weapons. Suddenly from the tentacle came other smaller and faster tentacles, which made us fall and lose our objective, from that moment on everything was a great tragedy. We lost our unity as a team, we dispersed, the plan ceased to be fulfilled and everyone felt the fear of dying. In a few minutes he had us all in his tentacles, tight and almost unable to move, but he didn't kill us, he just left us there", said one of the alpha agents to Frederick, while the other two nodded.

– "What happened after that", Frederick asked.

– "At that moment we didn't quite understand the creature's intentions, some of us could talk, we planned to try to get out of the tentacle, but all we did was waste energy, we were tight enough not to be able to get out, but also free enough to keep breathing. It was obvious that if the creature had wanted to kill us at 10, it could have done it without any problem", the agent said. Frederick stared at them for a few seconds, wanted to ask a question but held back, paused, thought better of his words, and said:

– "So, how is it possible that they could escape such a situation and their companions could not?", Frederick asked.

– "We don't know. Suddenly the creature selected three of us, at random, and set us free. We weren't even together, I think it was totally random. Once we were free, we agreed with our companions to take advantage of the apparent carelessness of the beast and go quickly for help, the same help we had already requested from you. We quickly went out of the labyrinth, when we heard the horrible sound of our companions being strangled without any compassion. There was nothing else to do, so we went back", the officer said.

Frederick got up and headed for Lin, both agreed to a meeting in one of the halls of the castle, the three were to discuss everything that had happened. The 6 survivors were helped in the same castle, then they would be attended by experts, who would take notes of their testimonies and elaborate a report for the General Assembly and for the leaders of the central temple. The garden was slowly cleared, until there were only a few researchers taking samples from the ground and checking the labyrinth entrances, although it was forbidden to enter, the researchers had to enter a few meters, to collect any evidence necessary for Speculum.

There was no doubt that this creature had never before been seen by Speculum members, they were fighting against an enemy not only powerful, but also unknown. The beast had hardly been seen, they knew only a fraction of it: its tentacles, but behind those tentacles killers must hide the mastermind that plans all attacks. It was strange what had happened, they had 6 witnesses who survived in a strange way. Jonas ordered the 6 surviving agents to stay in the castle for a season, they had to find out what is special about them in order to have come out almost unharmed from the beast's attack. They delayed a few days the arrival of the infiltrators, now the enemy is not a potential traitor, but a huge beast.
