The King of The Jews
Why? You may be wondering.
It's not a story nor news,
I saw the King of the Jews.
Striped.
Lashed.
Speared.
Nailed.
I can only imagine the pain,
he must have felt for no gain.
His mother's heartfelt sorrow,
she must have felt she was shot with an arrow.
Punished like a criminal,
Oh, the mockery as they gave him vinegar.
Placed between two thieves,
The one on the left still full of mischief.
If only they had known then,
That the ways of God differs from men,
That life only comes after death,
Maybe they wouldn't have forced that last breath.
Today the stone is rolled away,
Today the tomb is empty,
Today the Son of man is risen,
Today the prophecy is fulfilled!
Firstborn of the dead!
Conqueror of death!
Resurrected Saviour!
The Risen King!
The curtail tore,
No longer do men need to seek God through others,
Now we are free from the curse of the law,
Hallelujah, we have hope!
