SLC S27 Week6 - Let's Play OpenTTD - Trains & Railways
Hello everyone!
Today I am here to participate in the challenge of playing OpenTTD game organized by @sergeyk. If you want to join then:
Task 1
Find a town with a Water Tower and a population of up to 500 residents (don’t choose a metropolis, marked as “City”).
Place your headquarters there, and in the terrain menu, use Place sign to write the town’s starting population. Take a screenshot.
I selected Charnton town to complete my tasks and aiming to grow the town. Here are some reason why I selected this town:
- Population > 500
- Water Tower
- Nearby Water Source
- Nearby Food Factory
- Nearby Corn Source
- Nearby Towns
- Nearby Water

I have labelled the population of the town and built a headquarter in the town. The initial head quarter was small and typical. But I lost those pictures due to the downside on the steemit.com interface. Now at the ti,e of taking the picture the head quarter has grown a lot and developed.
Task 2
Build two tracks. You can use one station for both tracks or build two separate stations in different parts of the town.

According to the requirements of the task I tried my best to choose a very suitable town. I chose Charnton town. I built two train stations to bring water and food to the town.
But at first I had to bring corn or fruits to my factory to make food. So I provided corn and fruit to my factory and it started making food. I delivered food to the town and water as well.
Here you can see that my town started receiving all the required things for the growth such as food and water. You can see food and water delivery has become green. My town is growing every 10 seconds.
After connecting water and food to the town I focused on other things to increase the earning and profit rate of my company. I delivered rubber, diamonds, copper ore, fruits, corn, goods to different places where these things were accepted. I used trucks and trains to do so.
As the time passed it happened many times that the mines disappeared and factories also disappeared so I have to take into account everything to avoid free use of the trucks and trains. In those cases I stopped the vehicles and trains in the depot or run them for other nearby tasks.
Something interesting which I noticed regarding the trains is that they load and unload cargo simultaneously. The other vehicles and planes do only one thing at the moment either loading or unloading.
Task 3
Research work - Try transporting passengers and mail by trucks first — does the town grow?
I am researching it by having the example of the Great Grufingfield town.

At the moment the town is not growing as you can see in the picture.
After 5 years
I noticed the town did not grew in the 5 years where I only used one passenger bus and one mail truck. The town window is saying town is not growing.

If you deliver lots of products and water, does the town grow faster?
Now I am going to experimenting again on Great Grufingfield. I will deliver water because water tower is available. Then I will deliver only products but not food and will notice what happens.
Here you can see that I have delivered water to the town and all the available and nearby products to the town. I have delivered diamonds to the town.
Here you can see that the water is delivered to the town. But the food is not delivered to the town. The town is still not growing. The population of the town is still 511. It did not increase or decrease. The town did not grow without food.

Task 4
How much the town’s population has grown

The value of my transport company has increased at good level. Currently the vale of my company is 164,915,614 USD. It was not an easy job to get this value of the company. It was full of difficulties as in the beginning it was very hard to work in the desert. I used every penny wisely and tried to play the game whenever I got time.
For my account balance I cannot see it because I am using a saved file of the game and the balance of first company is visible to me or maybe I do not know how to access my balance. The figures for my company maybe different because I have used a saved version of the game but these values can be different at the live server.
