Those who left... will they return??

Never before had such a large migration been seen in my country. After the great nation of Venezuela, it was the second country to welcome all types of migrants without asking them anything; they were simply told: "Welcome to this country." Many adopted it as their home and formed colonies because here they found everything they were looking for when they left their country. Now we were leaving in search of the comfort and freedom to which we were accustomed.

The walk to their destination was long and bumpy. Many couldn't endure the journey and fell one by one, dying in the attempt. The rest had no choice; they had to keep going until they reached their destination, as it was the only thing that gave them safety and dignity. Their shoes fell apart, calluses grew from walking so much, their toenails grew sore from the friction of the rubber, their legs swelled from circulatory problems, and many became ill from drinking contaminated water. Many others were buried in the jungle, never to be seen again. They didn't have a proper burial or anyone to mourn them.

After spending almost a month walking, they finally saw the end of the tunnel, but they hadn't arrived. The journey would only become less arduous, even with its risks. Now all that remained was to wait for the moment to cross the border, at all costs, but there was no turning back: it was either win or lose. Now that the years have passed, I wonder if those who left... will they return? Some still miss their country, but the experience was so drastic that they won't want to go back. Others have already made their lives there; it would be difficult to think about starting over. I don't think they will return.

What do I see?:

A person, regardless of gender, walking, bewildered, tired, but determined to move forward. The sun set many times, but it came out again showing a new day.

What do I feel?:

I feel nostalgia for those people who left and didn't want to because they considered their country a great place to live. Migrating isn't easy; you face rejection from many people because you're not their nationality, but they don't realize that we're human beings who need a helping hand. Yes, there are those who don't deserve that help, but there are more of us who are good.

I think migration is a completely natural process—humans were nomadic for a long time, and with sedentarism and the formation of states came a lot of problems... There may be a variety of reasons for leaving one's country—a feeling of lack of freedom, career opportunities, poverty, political persecution, crises, war, love, health circumstances, the appeal of the new... It doesn't matter! The opportunity should be open to all people without risky and arduous actions. I would call this global freedom of settlement, and I would prefer to see it happen today rather than tomorrow.

Of course, this is completely unrealistic and does not fit in with the current trend toward isolationism and extreme nationalism.

I've always believed that the earth should be open to anyone who wants to visit or stay there forever. I don't know why they put so many restrictions on us? God gave us the earth to live on.

Thank you very much.

What Ibdo not understand is if a country says "Welcome" without asking orcquestioning, if other people worked to build something and share with you why starting colonies and nit adoot the new country for real and intergrate.

It sounds like the adopted spoiled child still longing for the 'home' on the streets with nothing toneat. It makes me wonder why welcome and invest at all.

Venezuela has been under a dictatorship for 25 years, from which everyone has tried to flee. But before that, it was a country where everyone wanted to come and stay, and they did so without any hindrance from us. Thank you for your comment on my post.
