Spiny orb weaver spider -Uyo-Nigeria

in CCS10 days ago (edited)

Capturing nature is quite simple and lovely. Nature is not complete with insects making up the cycle, in today's contest I will be writing on a special specie of spider I took in my environment.

Touring around bushes during the wet season is somehow discouraging because everywhere looks wet, leaves itch too from a little skin contact. I was able to capture a spiny orb weaver spider. This particular specie of spider is seen almost everywhere here in my locality but capturing it seems hard because it moves so fast and gets human approach attention so fast.

The zoom tool in my RedmiNote13 helps alot to capture insects without getting that close to them. To capture a nice and eye capturing pictures of an insect you need patience and full focus to make ab exceptional slide.

The spiny orb weaver spider is also known as *gasterancantha cancriformis generally known to be the coolest spider in our habitat. This very specie is harmless to humans but seems abit destructive to their prey because the venom spiny orb weaver spider produces are not strong enough to harm humans.

Thier behaviour is quite cool and easy to study. The just move all around the center of the web, waiting patiently for thier prey to be caught. They don't attack humans but their sparkling and rough skin scares predators away. Thier behaviour seems easy to be predicted because the move all round the web, search for road .

The process of capturing the insect was quite simple because I use my normal nature photography hack which is patience to capture those beautiful slides. All I used was my RedmiNote13 smartphone on zoom mode to capture the spider from far distance.

The picture was later edited on lightroom mobile mobile making the insect more visible than the raw photos.

The spider plays an important role in our environment being control other deadly plants insects thereby reducing their population. They produce ones by mating them forming a complete cycle of a spider which starts from the egg hatching.

Hi, my feedback for you

You used your photo editing skills very well, highlighting the spider in its silk, and that's what this contest is all about. These are photos that, despite being in the same frame, capture the spider in different positions. Although a closer shot could have been better.

The description of the habitat and behaviors could have been better. Remember, just like in the photos, it's the spider that should “shine” in the text and videos.

I didn't find any references to your research, nor did I see any comments from you on other publications.
