Insects and Thier Habitat

in CCS9 days ago (edited)

I have been longing to make this very contest but it wasn't possible due to the server problems. After waiting for long to upload my pictures without the error issues, here are photos I captured with my smartphone of this very insect.

Before talking about the insect, I will want to make a brief description of how I got those slides with my RedmiNote13 smartphone. My passion for nature photography began long ago, inspired by my early age of being a zoologist, I love everything about how animals interact with their environment.

Getting to know photography, I started capturing nature and insects(macro) that alone gave me a wider audience on my socials and boosted my photography skills.

Capturing pictures of that kind without macro lens seems hard but with a device of about 50mp up you can actually give a good zoom of what you want to capture. I used x3.5 and 2.7 to capture macro shots of the moving insects trying to adapt to its habitat. The pictures are edited on lightroom giving it a simple retouch to pop-up the texture of the insect.

About the insect
The caterpillar being one of the most seen insect in my environment is known to be a soft bodied one that lives mostly on leaves to survive. It has legs mainly on the abdomen area and other tiny(prolegs) which is used for grabbing of the leaves. The caterpillar can be the larvae stage of a butterfly or moth.

From my research, the botanical name for it is known as "lepidoptera larvae". Caterpillars live mostly in green areas and habitat to consume leaves for survival and development.

Behaviour

The caterpillar moved in a slow and steady way which enabled me to take few shots though it was a bit fast because I needed a steady and closed shot of the caterpillar. The caterpillar moved around slowly getting used to its environment and also consuming of leaves. The tiny hairs on the body can cause irritation when touched, I stayed far from it to experience such.

Macro insect photography is really nice and beautiful especially when you captured it perfectly. You will learn to be steady and patient enough just to take a good shot.

I'm very happy to participate in this very contest and wish for more about photography to be introduced on steemit. Most importantly, the server should be looked into too because few of my pictures can't be uploaded.

Welcome. 🐜🐛🕷Entry N° 1

Hi, @davidmarkgeorge. My feedback

Topic & Feedback
Observe: Work evaluation
You were the first to post, despite Steemit's image upload issues. A very well-developed post; it's clear you paid attention to telling a story and describing it from your observations. Thanks for participating, and I hope to continue enjoying your submissions in future contests. In terms of editing, I think you overdid the greens, and that may have affected the visualization of the caterpillar.
Photograph:
7 photos max. Different shots; close-up, medium, context.
Very good photographs, however, almost all of them remain in the full animal shot. It would have been nice to get closer and get a close-up of some detail of the caterpillar. You created an excellent video. Just be careful with the quality, as far as sharpness of the caterpillar itself.
Research
- Common and scientific names. -Habitat. -Distinctive behaviors. -Opinion. -References.
I feel like you needed to do more research. Right now, we have options like Google Lens, which, with high-quality photos like yours, will give you possible names. All you have to do is type in the search, and these were the results. Although I'd like to say positively that you provided very good descriptions of the behavior and habitat.

Post on Steemit. Follow the rules and format. Comments to other participants:
It's a good idea to ask if you don't understand an instruction or have questions. You didn't follow the title format. It's a good idea to include the date and location of the observation. I didn't find any comments from you to the other participants.
