If it comes to Steem witnesses: everyone with a server, paying for a server, and a node can be a Steemit witness. That's basically it. You need a new/separate account so a new name. Already two wakeupkitty's exist if not 3. I believe I never used the 3rd account

The next step is to have a voice (which one can also have or even more by simply having a lot of SP or being a influencer (or scary person hunting for Steemians farming for example).

If it comes to the witnesses: the more votes the higher ranked you are and the bigger the chance you take care of blocks (transferring data = everything we do like posting, commenting, paying, voting, and so on).

The biggest votes are given by the rich ones, those with a lot of SP meaning in the end they decide and we can question if new witnesses paying for servers ever make a chance to climb higher and help the platform we use being stable.

As far as I can see it, low remains low and the top decides who to dump and who will benefit (them). It's not different from politics. Someone completely unknown with a dirty or dangerous past can be pushed into the top 20 or 30 just to???
