Into The Unknown
It was dark. Darker than a night with no light. Very quiet. Quiet like an abandoned forest, stripped away from its trees, wind and life. He is moving forward and the only thing sensible is the sound of footsteps! Is it his footsteps? He does not know! When nothing can verify, the easy question could be the impossible. As the truth at times, cannot be known when it cannot be seen. But, the echo sound of the footsteps are very clear when they land on the wet ground. It is not raining anymore. Probably it was raining a while ago. That is as much reality that he can tell thus far. He is still moving forward. There is so much emptiness around. Maybe the reason that keeps him going is just that, there is not much of a reason to stop either.
In a silent moment, a thought of hope crossed his mind. It could be the light he thought. Hidden somewhere, maybe far away that it cannot be seen. It is the thing that kept him moving. The light that unravels the place around him. A question he had, what can be harder, walking to the unknown or staying in it?
The answer depends if the present is satisfying and if he is an adventurer. I would walk to the unkniwn. Afterall, life is about exploring, gathering experiences and not wasting time out of fear and lack if courage
You gave an answer that covers more than one view. You know what they say, "man fears most what is not known to him". Yet, exploration is part of the journey.
That is how I see it, but I know most don't. They even prefer to be molested instead of leaving and starting new. It clearly takes courage to get the best out of life and know when a border is crossed and say: No, it's enough.
