New cat owners sometimes fall into the pitfall of taking care of a cat they have not researched around properly. This is often as a result of social media or verbal recommendation. In some cases, knowing an experienced cat carer will be beneficial in sharing knowledge and providing assistance for the novice. In most cases however, there is a lack of awareness relating to the high maintenance of these types of cats. As iterated in the past, preparing beforehand is the key to success in the cat caring world. Most of this will stem back to educating oneself around cat care, tailoring learning to a chosen breed after selection and then preparing for the days, weeks and years ahead. Cat caring is a very rewarding endeavour but care should be taken before embarking on this journey. Adding a new family member is not only time committing but can also be heavy on a financial situation due to high vet fees and other necessary care equipment.

When buying a new cat, looking at advertisements will often be the first thing that new owners will do. This is a great way to network with local reputable breeders and understand what is available. Keeping a kitten from a young age is recommended as this is a journey that will see both the cat and owner grow together for many years to come. When looking at the various types of cats available, it’s worth getting familiar with what is being offered and whether the descriptions match their definitions.

The Smoke Persian is another exciting breed in this vast family that many people adore. The longhair cat is a cross between various Chinchilla colours and includes the genes of both black blue and black variations. As time went on, breeders introduced the gens of other cats, in particular the chocolate Persians genepool was added, bringing about a wide variety of smoke Persians. Naturally the Black Smoke Persian was the first to be recognised by the cat world and they included very distinct layering in colour. The lighter shades would sit around the torso while the darker layers would envelope the heads, legs and tail. This created a unique appearance that came to be known as the smoke Persian. These Persian cats are said to be very docile and are very quiet around the household. This can be attributed to their genepool which lacks the more energetic strands of heritage.
