1961 Maserati 3500 GT Spider by Vignale
Another great lot during the RM Sotheby's London sale at the end of this month, this 1961 Maserati 3500 GT Spider is a special kind of cool with the coachwork by Vignale with a starting price of £ 450,000.

History of the Maserati 3500 GT
The Maserati 3500 GT is a grand tourer produced between 1957 and 1964 in two versions : coupé with a coachwork by Touring or convertible by Vignale. The model was presented at the 1957 Geneva Auto Show, one of the first example of GT with series production done by Maserati.
The Maserati 3500 GT Spider was built only at 242 examples (2,000 for the coupé). This version was presented two years later in 1959 at the Salon de l'Auto of Paris with a design of Giovanni Michelotti, Italian designer working for Vignale (known mostly for the design of the Triumph in the 50's).
Specification
The Maserati 3500 GT Spider has a 3.5 litre Tipo 101 I6 engine producing 220 hp thanks to the twin spark-plug ignition and the triple Weber carburettors. It can reach a top speed of 220 kmh (137 mph).
This model was restored fully restored in 2007 finished in black with an interior in black leather. The dashboard is gorgeous with the Veglia/Jaeger instruments and a thin-rimmed black Bakelite Nardi steering wheel.
