1954 Arnolt-Bristol Roadster
A discovery for me... I like seeing new models of cars with a design that is out of the ordinary. During the Zoute Sale (5 October 2018, Le Zoute, Belgium), Bonhams will auction this beautiful 1954 Arnolt-Bristol Roadster for about € 350,000.
This car is an opportunity to discover the automotive brand Arnolt and its collaboration with Bertone.
History of Arnolt-Bristol
Stanley Harold Wacky Arnolt was an industralist based in Chicago that made his fortune during WWII, in the 50's he began to import foreign cars (US distributor for Bristol cars) under the automotive brand Arnolt. In 1952, he met Carrozzeria Bertone during the Turin Auto Show in 1952, he bought a stake in the company.
The collaboration began soon after, with the design of the new Bertone' stylist Franco Scaglione with a command of 200 cars but the production will stop at 130 examples. Franco Scaglione created a sleek open two-seater sports car. The cas was produced in Italy then after sent to Chicago. Four models was offered :
- Basic competition with a price tag of $ 3,995
- Bolide ($ 4,245)
- Bolide Deluxe (fully equipped for $4,995)
- Coupé ($ 5,995).
Specification
With its 2.0-litre six-cylinder engine based on the pre-war BMW 328, the Arnolt-Bristol Roadster can produced 150 hp. This example was fully restored between 2016 and 2018 (see photos in the Bonus Section).
I like the unique coachwork designed by Franco Scaglione and finished in its original Peacock Blue with grey leather interior, this is very desirable Anglo-Italian sports car.

It's a very basic looking car nothing fancy just everything you need and nothing else, what's the top speed of this little beast?
I find the information only for the Bolide Deluxe (the best model), 0 to 100 kmh in 8.7 seconds with a top speed of 180 kmh. It'll be fun to be behing the wheel !
