Where will I lead my career?

in #career5 years ago

Career is a bad word for me. I would like to replace it with another word, but nevertheless-career is the standard word for use when you are aiming for a higher professional advancement than usual. A career is different from ordinary work that has no aspirations for extraordinary progress.
And what is your career? Would you like to "make a career"? Some of you are not - that's fine. Some people do not want a "career", it's legitimate. There are women who "make a carier" at home, in their family, in their housework - and they love this "career" of home and family, and they have really achieved a beautiful career in the family and at home. Some men make a "career" in their own family, or with their children or their wives. Or their hobbies.

But still, there are people who want to make a career. Why? Maybe because they are ambitious. Maybe because they feel they have something special to give to the world. And perhaps people who want to make careers have no clear explanation for their motives. They simply feel that they need and want to make a career. point. And this is legitimate - not everything should be explained and motivated clearly and consciously. True, as a psychologist , it is clear to me that if people who need a career will search their lives or their family, they and others will understand why it is important for them to have a career. And perhaps they should understand why they need a career, because they will feel that their ambition is justified and reasonable.

But many people, who feel they want a career do not know - what to "make a career"? Where should they go? What will bring them to success, which they need and dream of?

This is not a simple question. I want to try and give this question an answer. And my answer is:

Do not plan your own career. True, many American and non-American books of advice will tell you to build goals for yourself, and direct yourself to these goals. And that's okay: it's a legitimate way of acting.

But my suggestion is different: do not intend and do not build assumptions in advance. You do not know where your need to "make a career" will lead you. Just follow your feelings, after your needs.

For example, if you are eligible for a doctorate, and you've thought about it for a few years now - you started to do your doctorate. And maybe it suits you to paint. Or write poems. Or record songs. Or something else? Plan clothes perhaps?

Follow the needs you feel. Acted accordingly. Create them. Start things according to these desires and needs.

You do not know where your action will ultimately lead you. But in the end, it will be a clear line of career. And among us, even programs that seemed clear and defined in advance did not always occur as you planned. John Lennon's saying: "Life is what happens to us when we are busy with other plans."

True, it's a little confusing to act like that. You do not know clearly where you'll end up. Maybe you will not even build a "career" at the end. But you do not know what will eventually build a career for you, and if you have a career.

What is important is, in my opinion, that you be with them . Work from your inner place. Create and progress where and how you want.

True, it's important to know roughly what you want and in what direction you want to develop. But that too is not necessary, because you will not always develop in the direction you planned . Yes, it's important to know what you like to do and how talented you are. But this direction, too, is not always clear to you. You may have thought that you were talented in a certain direction, and that you were very hard at succeeding, and suddenly you got a lot of compliments and recognition in another field.

Developments are not so predictable and planned. After all, we also plan in our youth to marry some man or another, and often find ourselves married to a man who is completely different from the man we thought we would marry. And in a completely different relationship from the relationship we thought was built in our marriage. And these surprises are probably part of life. We probably can not always build a life as we expected or planned.

So what do I suggest you do if you want to build a career for yourself?

Be with them. Do what you love. Follow your creativity, your energies, your ambitions.

And I would also suggest that you try to finish projects that you started, not to leave things unfinished. It seemed important to me: to finish academic studies that you started, to finish academic work, to finish writing a book, to plan a project.

I would also suggest that you imagine sometimes, in your free time, your career - even though it will not always come out as you imagine. But imagining things you want is an important thing, and it also helps to achieve the same things. In psychological therapy, I suggest that people do so, and these are also some of the exercises in psychotherapy in hypnosis.

And maybe go to psychotherapy to find out for yourself what your ambitions are. What are your fears. Get encouragement to do what you love to do and it's important for you to do. Find your creativity and your energies with the help of another person who will listen to you and understand you and strengthen you.

So do what your heart desires. Follow your needs, after your motivations. After your energies. And after a few years you can look back and understand what career you have built for yourself. Because it can be very, that now it is not clear to you and others what you are building. Like a child, who starts building a building with dice, and he enjoys it, he gets excited, and he does not have to know at the end how this building will look. He works, he thinks, he puts a cube on a cube - that's what matters. In the end, if some changes are needed in the building, he will make some final changes until he is satisfied. And in the end there will be an exciting building of cubes, which he created. As in the end you will have a "career" that you created. "Career" that began as something unclear, undefined. "Career" that may have confused you. But in the end, a few years later, there is already a clear line. It becomes clear where you have aspired and what you have achieved with the energies and work you have invested. And with the help and feedback you received from the world.

I hope I have helped a little on this list to someone or someone who has hesitations and doubts about their careers. .
