1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta
This summer, at Monterey (US), this splendid black 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta with a coachwork by Scaglietti will heading to auction through RM Sotheby's. Last month, the same model but version convertible was proposed to auction for $700,000.
History of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4
In 1968, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, Daytona, was presented at the Paris Auto Salon and was produced between 1968 and 1973. This model was named after the Ferrari's victory at the Daytona 24 Hours in the US in 1967 with the Ferrari 330 P4 prototype driven by Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon.
The body was designed by Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Scaglietti.
Technical specification
The 365 GTB/4 has a 4,390cc Colombo V12 engine with 5-speed manual transmission for a top speed of 281 kmh and from 0 to 100kmh in 5.72s.
Why Colombo ? The engine was designed by Gioacchino Colombo, Italian automobile engine designer, and used by Ferrari between 1947 and 1988.
