See What I See: Baby Lady Bugs

in #cannabis6 years ago (edited)

Today was the first time that I have every seen a cluster of baby Lady Bugs on my cannabis plants.

It’s somewhat unusual to catch happening so I thought that you might like to take a look too.

I was inspecting my plants this morning and noticed this:

image

This ladybug caught my eye because of how red its wings are and because it was moving quickly to cover as much surface area as it could (it seemed).

I continued to go around the plant as I inspected it.

Then, I stuck my head under the canopy so that I could get a look at what was happening underneath the leaves and around the stock.

@bluntsmasha thought I grew some sexy stalks in this garden.

I’ll take sexy and strong stalks any day of the week.

This stalk belongs to a strain called creamy caramel.

Remember my clones in their blue solo cups?

image

Same plants!

(10 weeks later. No kidding. I think it’s wild too.)

image

This strain is called Purple Bubba Kush.

Considering how fragile the cutting were in the beginning, these plants have grown some major stability.

image

While I was down there, I noticed these mushrooms growing...

image

I actually don’t know what species of fungi these are, but I can tell you they completely dehydrated in the sun, today.

This is the same cluster, 12 hours later.

image

It’s so crazy just how delicate life can be sometimes, especially with flora and fauna.

Then I noticed the cluster of babies...

image

Oh Gawd, what the hell is this I thought. Then I looked at the cluster under some magnification and stopped panicking.

image

Cool! Aren’t they cute?!?

I promptly relocated them to other plants which I thought could use their aphid-eating help.

So glad they are carnivores! Those insects are super useful all around the garden.

Good gravy, lady! This stalks are hyuge!! You could probably make them into a steemroller.

Did I count that right? 9 leaf fans, my stars!

You're growing the land of OZ with your emerald thumb.

Be well, have a pleasant day.

California sun in Ontario . 😃

Woah.. You could use those leaves for cannablunts and juice. Looks like you are going to get a nice haul.

Beautiful Women, Sir!

Thanks for the comment Bro. For sure those ideas are great. However I usually chuck the fans. Then Process the small bud and leaf into different grades of hash and butter.

It is pretty classy to burn one. Mos' def' get you some canna-cred. Fun at parties too, mostly cause nobody else has one.

Lmfao! That’s the best pic yet!!!
Where are you @billmega?
Rocky Horror my ass! This Queen has consumed your 6’+ frame even though it’s looks like you have super cropped her.
Nice job!

Thanks for your reply I appreciate it.
But Yes! its a amazing year in Eastern Ontario. I Been in since 96. This year I Have quite a few contenders. But hey when things line up perfect.😎
Ive definately taken my kicks here and there over the years. No glory in growing until harvest.🤞
She is a Critical Chunk tied pinched and pruned. Sounds kinky😉. Super cropp technique is implimented ready for 3 stage harvest at the end of Sept. I am 6 ft 1 large frame...your good!
👍😃 your a doll ill keep you up to date

Great job!! You're a natural at this.
Some of those plants will yield some excellent source material for shatter.

Thank you @vantocan!
Both my husband and I have licenses to grow and have been doing so for just over a year. We still have a lot to learn and each garden has taught us something new, so far. ;)

You've come a ways in a year! You must have some natural ability with it. Keep up the excellent progress : D

Looks great! I bet the soil, water, and air from Canada are giving the plants some wonderful nutrition

Keep it up!

It’s been a good cannabis growing season this year, in the part of Ontario, where I reside.
Every grower that I have talked to or, actually toured their gardens, are doing exceptionally well.
We’ve enjoyed a lot of very hot, very humid days with lots of sunshine @masscollective. My biggest challenge has been getting use to the water needs of the plants in these “hotter than normal” conditions. ;)

That's good to hear your season up there is going great! Here on the west side it has been hot as well. I haven't got a chance to tour any outdoor farms this year but I'm sure the this year's Washington summer is treating the plants well with the Seattle humidity.
I mainly work indoor so I'm always interested to see how outdoor runs.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing your posts!

The wanted to get high as well :D I’ve had purple bubba kush and honestly I like purp but i feel like it doesn’t give you as much of a high

I have seen different variations of Bubba Kush that have been very potent. I think, like any strain, it all depends on growing conditions. ;)

Very true and you’re an expert anyways ;)

i saw a lot of lady bugs on my plants but never a whole baby cluster. Very cool.

I thought it was interesting. They must have just hatched because they were just starting to move their legs and move around.

Never really thought about lady bug babies before and didn’t realize tiny insect babies could be so cute!

Lady bugs don't harm your MJ plants. 😃They are actually very beneficial what they are doing is feasting on mites and other pests which cause your plants harm... and babys are hungry. I found a big ball of lady bugs in my shed a few years back and i released them in my greenhouse lots stay some leave but i get a swarm that comes back every year they seem to know its home😃 and i rarely have to spray for pests.

I think you may have mis-interrupted a sentence or two @billmega...
When I realized that I had found a whole cluster of babies, I was pleased because I know they do a fantastic job of eating aphids. I then relocated them to other plants that I have had a few issues. With any luck, they will survive and help me deal with thrips. Thanks for taking a look and for commenting. ;)

Cool. 👍😃 Sorry i have a habit of reading the first paragraph then skimming and looking at the pics. Lol. Good job Keep growing.
