City Of Houston Declares War On CBD Oil
The Nanny State rears its ugly head again.
The Houston Police Department shut down 3 smoke shops and seized 1,000 of bottles of "tainted" CBD oil.
CBD oil is 100% LEGAL in Texas.

City of Houston officials held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss the growing trend of allegedly “toxic” CBD oil and manufactured pills sold at convenience stores. I watched a live stream on Facebag as they trotted out a string of "professionals" to bad mouth CBD oil. They proceeded admit that it was a legal substance and then compared it to "Kush" and synthetic marijuana that they find on the streets.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo
(formerly head douchebag in Austin) said,
“Just go on the side of the road and find something on the ground. If you’re willing to do that, and don’t think it’s a problem, you’re probably the kind of person who would take that.”
A spokesperson with the city attorney’s office says the city will file CIVIL lawsuits against the businesses, which could result in a fine of $20,000 for each tainted bottle of CBD oil sold.
No Arrests Made
Despite seizing CBD oil products, legally held firearms and shuttering businesses
THERE WERE NO ARRESTS MADE!!! Not one!
So they knew the commerce these people were engaged in was perfectly legal and they shut them down anyway.
These people have absolutely NO IDEA what they are talking about. Its to the point of being hilariously sad.

THE POLICE are here to protect people from making an informed decision about a product that would offer relief without horrible side effects! ............Or maybe that is the point.

Gang rule by personal opinion. Where you at thin blue line? Enforcing non-laws? Opinion enforcement? Gang activity. $20m in fines for legal activity? Sounds like some liberals over spent their budget and need to justify their existence. No justification.

This incident is vaguely relative to the recent outrage in a suburb outside San Antonio where a few men were walking around with their rifles slung in public despite an ordinance that forbids it. Ended badly for them, so far as I recall, with them being targeted with (real) assault weapons, physically assaulted, and thrown in jail. Despite their consistent articulation of state laws that clearly supersede any local ordinance.

You’re talking about Olmos Park. CJ Grisham (founder of Open Carry Texas) and another member were assaulted and jailed. This prompted a HUGE open carry march and rally in the streets of Olmos Park. They bonded out and the charges were subsequently dropped. But the Police Chief that assaulted them is still in office. I had several posts on it a few weeks ago.

Interesting. I wonder if they were really "tainted" products, or someone in power just does not like the shop owners/or the fact that people use cbd oil.
Texas politics are so screwed up. I doubt if any were tainted. Maybe trace amounts of THC but no where near where they would be harmful. Comparing it to street Kush is an out and out lie. Its just the Nanny State trying to protect us from ourselves.
God forbid the people use a product that cures ailments instead of the Gov sponsored poisoned consumerism of big pharma.
This is a dying grasp at the last of a dying era, the prohibition of marijuana, even though I realize CBD isnt even marijuana, law enforcement lumps it all together.
The tides are turning 64% of the american public supports legalization. Nobody respects marijuana laws, the other weekend we were at a bar in Wicker Park literally leaning against a police car on the curb smoking a joint outside the bar.
It's actually somewhat comical its still illegal as nobody has any respect for the laws, rightly so.
I know Michigan is talking about full legalization in November, heck even my backwards ass state of Illinois is talking legalization. I think within the next 2 years marijuana will be legalized nationwide.
That's actually a great thing, like other legal industries stores will sell pot but won't sell it to people underage so it will be like alcohol, more difficult for kids to get while more accessible to not only recreational users but medical users. I think quality will also be regulated like food currently is.
