Let The FUD About Cryptocurrency By The Media Be A Lesson To YousteemCreated with Sketch.

in #busy5 years ago

We are closing out 2018 which was the Year of FUD in the cryptocurrency realm.

Most of us on here are aware of the lies that Bloomberg and CNBC spread. They paraded the likes of Jamie Dimon and Warren Buffett on with regularity, all bashing cryptocurrency with not only outlandish opinions, but ones without basis in fact.

Anyone on here with rudimentary intelligence knows this was an orchestrated attack. There was little truth in what they shared and certainly no "reporting" or "journalism". It was all part of an agenda, in my opinion, put together by the banks. Whoever was behind it, the result was a collapse in price which had a detrimental effect on development. This was the goal and the use of the media was a part of it.

These points should be clear to everyone.

What is not clear is that while the media was completely fabricating what they were saying about cryptocurrency, yet Steemians still believe what they say about other things. I see debates taking place on here and am baffled that anyone believes it.

Here is the truth: They are lying to you about Trump.

Everything you are told is not true. Whether you suckle from the teat of Donald or cannot stand him, no matter who you are listening to in the media, you are being misled.

In fact this is true for all political affairs. It holds for governmental practices also. The news? What a joke that is. Their scientific research? Fabrications for the most part.

Have you noticed there is a "company" line and anyone who steps outside of it is demonized. They are viciously attacks with headlines that seek to ruin an individual. Of course, this is backed up with money that allows for the "research" that supports their agenda.

As the old saying goes, follow the money.

I have followed Trump for 35 years. He was a sensation for decades in New York. I know people who did business with him. There are also a lot that I know who had to try and collect money from him.

Thus, I feel qualified when I say he is a crook. He is a first class, grade A thief. Do not let anyone in the media tell you otherwise.

However, do not believe the media when they blast Trump for calling Hillary a crook. They are misleading you with an agenda. Trump knows a crook from across the country. The biggest rat in the sewer knows the other rats.

Of course we all know that since Mueller is investigating. What the hell. Even a blind squirrel can find an acorn. So now people trust a lawyer to be the beacon of truth? Yeah because they are not known to railroad people for the sake of their own careers.

What is next, we trust a guy who once ran the CIA? Oh wait....

Big tech is also making waves these days. They spent the better part of the last 20 years lying to everyone. They make like they are for progress and pushing humanity forward but they are no different. Look at Facebook. The FTC investigation is the latest of setbacks for that company. It is also the latest piece of evidence how corrupt they really are. This situation relates to a settlement they reaches 8 years ago with the FTC which they went back upon.

Just add it to the pile.

Of course, it gets even better. Big tech is all for digital currencies. Do you think they are for decentralized systems that promote freedom? Not by a long shot. Instead they want the Federal Reserve to establish a payment system for digital currencies.

https://qz.com/1499400/tech-giants-like-google-and-paypal-look-to-the-federal-reserve-for-faster-payments/

Are you kidding me? Technology companies want a bunch of bankers to take establish the system? Do they realize that is what we have now? You bet they do.

These companies are about control just as much as the media, bankers, and politicians. Even the "outsiders" are part of the family. And divide and conquer is the main tactic used. There are not enough of them to fend off the populations in different areas so they have the people turn on each other.

It is sad when people do not see this.

Remember when media outlets that supported Trump were beating the drum that he was an "outsider"? What a joke that was.

We have a major challenge on our hands. There is the opportunity to upset the entire apple cart in the name of freedom and humanity. Satoshi Nakamoto handed the world a gift as a result of the financial collapse a decade ago. It is up to us to carry that vision forward while evolving the technology. We are seeing that taking place.

Here we are, a decade later, with more tools at our disposal than we had before. Things are progressing in such a way because of decentralization. This is something that the world cares little about because they are clueless. In all honesty, they are too busy blaming each other (or the other whoever is the demon) instead of focusing upon the real captors.

Fortunately, there are a ton of very smart people who do see the issue and are taking action. For those who are familiar with SingulairtyHub, you will understand this.

Today, it was reported that they released their developer portal.

https://www.ccn.com/decentralized-ai-network-singularitynet-launches-developer-portal/

If you never heard of this project, it is a blockchain for artificial intelligence. The goal is to democratize AI by putting it in the hands of everyone. Having a decentralized network that it runs on means that it is not under the control of big tech companies who will use it against the masses.

Instead, the masses are going to be handed the technology to use for their own purposes.

This project had an ICO that sold out in about 30 minutes and raised over $30M.

We also see movements starting to apply what we are involved in here. Anyone interested in some AmbaCoin?

Do not know what this is? It is the coin created by the separatist group in Cameroon. It is now the official currency of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia. They are having their ICO on Monday to raise funding for their march to independence. The token will sell for 25 cents with 100M issued. (No Alice this is not financial advice).

https://www.ccn.com/cameroon-separatists-create-cryptocurrency-called-ambacoin/

This is being done on the Ethereum blockchain.

So I guess we can add revolutions to the list things that cryptocurrency is used for alongside guns, hookers, and drugs.

Of course, I am sure the government of Cameroon does not like this idea one bit. Nevertheless, we could see 2M people instantly turned onto cryptocurrency.

Do you think this story is going to appear on one of the mainstream media channels? If it does happen to reach it, do you think it will be tilted from the perspective of freedom? The odds are no. If this received any coverage, which it most likely will not, it would be made into a joke and laughed at.

That is how they operate.

We need to keep the lessons of FUD about cryptocurrency in our minds when dealing with these entities. There is an agenda is it is not to help us.

This is why spreading the word about non-censorship and blockchain being immutable is crucial. This is something that mainstream cannot counter. Their FUD only works as long as they are the ones promoting it. When it is challenged, it tends to fall completely apart.

And that is good for all of us.

Some good points, but using absolutes like all and every while speculating on coverage and intent, dilutes your credibility. Every person needs to be judged individually on their own actions, grouping everyone together will not solve anything.

Dead on.

The use of 'they', 'establishment', 'agenda' and other similar general words us a real telltale...

Which lies should we not believe? Those that we are supposed to hear in the general medias or those that we read in posts like this?

Who is speaking on behalf of all users of this Blockchain?

Since when would it be a good thing to finance support of a separatist group through a new ICO?

Nice words but it's pure propaganda.
And clearly it works time and time again judging by the rewards this type of posts make.

I was thinking the same thing. When you make blanket condemnation of various entities in society you damage your own message. I have known some honest journalists, lawyers, politicians, etc. I recently worked on the Beto O'Rourke campaign for that very reason. You could dismiss him under the accusation that "they are all the same," but you would be wrong. He is different than most. Of course he lost for refusing to cater his message to each special interest group. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

The fight is starting by the establishment and I have concerns that their ways of centralization are making inroads into this space. I wonder how many dev's are getting solicitations from bankers to subtly alter the code of the largest projects? I wonder about the block size increase debate in 2017 and while I agree that increasing block size leads to greater centralization, this is a matter of degree. The question is how much? Even Satoshi Nakamoto thought that a block size increase wasn't unreasonable if the network needed it. Then I see people like Jimmy Song saying just use credit cards. Are we sure that these people are on the side of the people? I don't know. As a software dev with a couple decades practical experience in running my own software business, I find many of the statements technically correct, but wrong headed from a business point of view.

The test I'm looking for is whether Bitcoin Core can implement privacy tech, or it's just talk. Privacy tech is essential for fungibility. Without it we are just handing the keys to authority to create a digital panopticon and get rid of the last hold toward freedom (as decrepit as it is) which is national fiat (paper cash). Authority may not be able to take over bitcoin, but at this rate, they don't have to. They only have to slow it down enough to prevent it becoming a replacement to national fiat.

I think this next year will expose the truth of who the bad players are in this field. Some are in it for greed and they will ruin the space if allowed to continue.

To be fair almost everyone wants a block size increase(except Luke)...
The problem would be how much is right?
Segwit was an almost prefect compromise...
(other than the fact it was opt in but that not much of a big deal-it did show which side of the game wallets/exchanges were...)

2x could of been successful if only they asked everyone but miners thought they were too good...

To be fair what Jimmy Song said got twisted...
I not saying I agree with his statement but he was saying:
that if bitcoin is not accepted by a merchant directly and done by a middleman who gives the merchant fiat they are not really accepting bitcoin and are helping the system and giving people false hope.
Might as well use a credit card which gives bonuses and use them to buy btc.
I get what he trying to say but it somewhat flawed but people twisted his words alot.

Don't expect too much privacy tech. Alot of tech ruins the supply limit. CT works but not with much scale. To scale use Bulletproof would be amazing but it introduces inflation risks. Of course if it has higher degree of safety it can added.
Mimblewimble is coming soon but not to bitcoin but as altcoins(much easier to do bc drivechains are not added yet)
https://www.coindesk.com/grin-and-beam-a-tale-of-two-coins-being-built-on-mimblewimble
They however said to open a type of system where a token pegged to bitcoin will be added letting bitcoin be used on their chain. Really interesting but can't give my opinion yet

2019:
Dandelion is coming though which gives tor/vpn style ip privacy to tx.(I follow the github page :P )
BIP 151 Encryption let Bitcoin nodes encrypt traffic (hence, transaction and block data) between them.
ZeroLink and TumbleBit are both online but questionable bc it can be argued it taints bitcoin so not the best....
LN is automatic privacy, can't track anything that can't be tracked.
Sidechain privacy is here but also not good bc no trustless pegging has yet to be added.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-privacycoin-tech-making-bitcoin-more-private/

Centralized IT has been stagnating in a way that can hurt bitcoin. Parasites don't innovate, but have a habit of seeking rent which is slowing down progress. This helps authority. Internet connection speeds are being throttled on purpose. We need mesh networks and more projects like Skycoin or Jared Rice's DWeb.

I agree. One of the reason why I run/support Blockstream Satellites and run Txtenna. However they only help bitcoin and not the rest of the internet. Skycoin and Jared ice's DWeb are too shady for me and most people...

This just continues to support the need to grow our ecosystem for true opportunities to spread real news which is the great use case for the decentralized networks being created.
