There's nothing like freshly picked home grown garden tomatoes.

I tweaked an old recipe, Good Ole Southern Spicy Fried Green Tomatoes.

Last harvest of my tomatoes, a few weeks ago yielded 20 tomatoes.
Yay! & Yikes!!
I have canning stuff but I will try it later.

Fried Green Tomatoes, is what I decided to perfect.
Countless research and videos later I tried and failed.
Spice. Spiciness was left out last time.

This time I made up for it with
Chili sauce. I used an Asian brand.

First I thanked my tomatoes for being my dinner. (They said they knew something was up when I invited them lol)

Wash and slice tomatoes.

Season with salt, pepper, basil, and chili sauce.
Add hot sauce if you want more tomato flavor.
Additional seasoning optional with Dijon mustard and other spices like rosemary or thyme.
Mix tomatoes and seasoning.

Mix one egg in separate bowl.
Dip tomatoes in egg then cornmeal and flour mixture and onto hot oil.
Fry for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Drain on paper towel.
Serve warm with dipping sauce and light fruit on the side.
This is a great snack for game day!!
