Citadel Hill is a core of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
All the surroundings are observed from the top of the Hill and first fortifications have appeared there since 1749 when Halifax was founded.
During centuries the fortifications were reconstructed many times and from 1798 after King George III the Halifax Citadel is named Fort George.
Until the end of the 19th century, the Citadel really defended Halifax Harbour but never been attacked.
The Halifax town clock locating in front of the Citadel is almost the only building that survived after the Halifax explosion in 1917 when the city was fully destroyed.
Currently, the Citadel has evolved from a command post to a museum and is one of the main attractions of the city.
