River and Klong Photography Contest: Early morning by the river, เดินเล่นริมแม่นํ้ายามเช้า

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest37 on river and klong photography. Today the mood is quiet and slow by the MaeKhong River early in the morning.

Whenever the train arrives very early in Nongkhai, I would have extra time to walk along the water front near the Indo-China market. It is nice to be there before all the shops are open as the river seems to be about waking up to greet the warm sunshine around 8 o’ clock. Sometimes there is thick fog over the water but it get dispersed very quickly. The fog makes the river looking very mysterious. I could imagine that some Naga is just waking up and his tail was stirring the current in the river causing the fog to disperse in a few minutes. I often hope that a Naga would come up to greet me one day.

เราชอบไปเดินเล่นที่ริมแม่นํ้าโขงตอนเช้า วันไหนถ้ามีเวลาเราก็จะไปเดินถ่ายรูปเล่นที่ถนนหน้าตลาดอินโดจีน ก่อนที่ร้านขายของจะเริ่มเปิด เราก็ไปเดินตอนเจ็ดโมงเช้า หลังรถไฟถึงสถานีหนองคาย บางวันอากาศเปลี่ยนแปลงกระทันหัน ทำให้มีหมอกเหนือผิวน้ำ มองไปดูแม่นํ้ามีความลึกลับขึ้นมาทันที. บ่อยครั้งที่ไม่มีคนอื่นเลย เราคิดว่าน่าจะมีพญานาคผุดขึ้นมาทักทายเราบ้างคงจะดีไม่น้อย แต่เราจะถ่ายรูปทันหรือเปล่า บางทีหมอกควันที่ผิวนํ้าอาจเกิดจาก การที่พญานาคตื่นนอน แล้วบิดขี้เกียจ เอาหางไปกวนกระแสน้ำ ทำให้เกิดเป็นควันฟุ้งขึ้นมา แล้วก็รีบเป่าให้หายไปในพริบตา

After I have bought all the food, snacks and Thai sweets from my regular vendor, I would ride the Tuk-Tuk along the side road to see the river in morning sunshine. It is a pity that all the big trees were all cut down during the construction of this new promenade. Two years ago, the footpath along the river was only three meters wide with lots of tall trees making it difficult to see the river while walking or jogging. Now the empty space just seems too hard and stark, there are no more trees to give sunshade during daytime and the concrete floor becomes very hot. So, people usually come for walks and cycling in the evening instead.

พอเราซื้ออาหารและเสบียงครบแล้ว. เราก็บอกให้รถตุ๊กตุ๊กแล่นออกไปทางถนนริมแม่น้ำ เราชอบดูแม่นํ้าตอนพระอาทิตย์ขึ้นช่วงแปดโมงเช้า ไปดูระดับนํ้าโขงจะได้เดาได้ว่า ทางจีนปล่อยน้ำลงมาหรือปิดเขื่อนอีกแล้ว แต่ก่อนนี้ทางเดินริมแม่น้ำกว้างแค่สามเมตร และมีต้นไม้ใหญ่ขึ้นเกือบตลอดทาง แทบจะมองไม่เห็นวิวแม่น้ำ แต่ร่มรื่นเขียวตลอด ปัจจุบันกลายเป็นทางวิ่ง ทางเดินและลานที่กว้างมาก แต่ไม่มีร่มไม้ ตอนกลางวันจะร้อนมาก พื้นก็สะท้อนความร้อน. ผู้คนจึงมักจะออกมาเดินเล่น วิ่งเล่นกันในตอนเย็น มีชาวบ้านบางคนขยันมาก เขาลงไปปลูกผักที่ด้านล่าง ใกล้น้ำทำให้ดูแลง่าย มีผักสวนครัวกินเองในครอบครัว แต่ก่อนชาวบ้านลงไปปลูกกล้วย มะม่วงและขนุนไว้กินกันเองด้วย
