People Photography Contest for #thaiphotocontest36

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest36 on people photography contest. These are the photos I took at the three days festival at the National Museum.

One lady in traditional outfit asked a family of performers for a photography session. So, I just joined in the fray and took a few photos! These artists in pink costumes were performing in a traditional folk play called ‘Li-Kay’ which is a play with alternate singing parts similar to opera but this Thai play is not as grand as Western operas setting. ‘Li-Kay’ used to be very popular among villagers in the countryside. The troops of ‘Li-Kay’ performing artists would travel to various provinces and set up their camping ground and make shift stage with lots of spot lights. During the night, their costumes would be glistening like crystals and diamonds on the stage, creating a kind of special extravaganza of lights, sound and movements.

In the old days where colour televisions were rare and very expensive, and cinemas were found only in big cities; these performing troops traveled around the country giving delightful entertainment to folks in the countryside. This also reminds me of the dying traditional Chinese Operas in Thailand where Chinese families travelled around to perform their singing plays to older generations of Overseas Chinese folks who migrated to the country over a hundred years ago. Time changes everything in our society almost beyond the recognition of previous generation!

รูปภาพที่นำเสนอในวันนี้ เป็นรูปทื่เราถ่ายมาจากงานฉลองที่พิพิธภัณฑ์สถานแห่งชาติ หญิงที่แต่งกายย้อนยุคมาเที่ยวงานขอถ่ายรูปหมู่ กับครอบครัวที่มาแสดงลิเกในงาน เราก็เลยเข้าร่วมวงถ่ายรูปกับเขาด้วย คณะนี้น่ารักมาก ใครจะขอถ่ายรูปด้วยก็ยิ้มยอมด้วยความเต็มใจ. ชุดที่เขาใส่สีสดสวยมาก สมัยก่อนที่โทรทัศน์สีจะมีขายทั่วไปและ โรงภาพยนต์ก็มีไม่กี่แห่งในกรุงเทพฯนั้น คณะลิเกเป็นผู้ทำหน้าที่ให้ความบันเทิง และความรู้ทางวรรณกรรม ให้กับคนที่อยู่ห่างไกลความเจริญในเมืองใหญ่. ตอนค่ำพอแสงไฟส่องไปที่ชุดของนักแสดงลิเก ก็สร้างความตื่นตาตื่นใจ พร้อมกับเสียงเพลง และการขับร้องบทละคร กับการแสดงออก ด้วยท่าทาง บนเวที ทำให้ทุกสายตาจับจ้องและติดตามความเป็นไปว่าจะจบลงอย่างไร ชาวบ้านก็มีเรื่องคุยและฝันเฟื่องเรื่องตัวพระ ตัวนางไปอีกหลายเดือนทีเดียว ปัจจุบันเวลาเปลี่ยนไป ทุกอย่างก็เปลี่ยนไป จนคนรุ่นก่อนตามไม่ทันความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางวัตถุในสังคมแล้ว. ก็เข่นเดียวกับศิลปะการเล่นงิ้วของคนจีนที่ตายไปเกือบหมดสิ้น ลูกหลานชาวจีนปัจจุบันไม่สามารถเข้าใจภาษาจีนของรุ่นปู่ย่าตายายได้แล้ว ดูงิ้วไม่เป็น คนรุ่นใหม่กำลังกลายเป็นคนที่มีวัฒนธรรมแบบร่วมสมัย ที่ไม่มีความเชื่อมโยงกับมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมของคนรุ่นเก่าเลย รากเหง้าขาดวิ่นเสียแล้ว ต้นไม้จะเติบใหญ่แข็งแรง และเป็นไท โดยไม่ถูกครอบงำจากกระแสอิทธิพลของ ความเจริญทางวัตถุได้อย่างไร
