Spaced - One of the best comedies out there.

I love Simon Pegg.

I've enjoyed every single movie that I've seen with him in it.

Last month I discovered a movie that I had never heard of starring Simon Pegg called Absolutely Anything.

It's very similar to Bruce Almighty except that the ones conferring the power to the human being are a group of aliens.

Wow, a Simon Pegg movie that I haven't seen! I thought.

You know what? It was awesome.

This guy is just hilarious in pretty much everything he does.

Did you know that Simon Pegg starred in a TV show before he got into movies?

Yep.

That TV show is called Spaced and it is one of the funniest things that I've ever seen.

Spaced is about a girl and a guy who both have lost their living arrangements but find an advertisement in the newspaper for a very nice flat.

The catch? The renters have to be a professional couple.

Although Tim and Daisy have just met, they decide to pretend to be a professional couple in order to get the flat.

The flat itself makes for a hilarious Conversation Piece simply by the fact that all of the other tenants have some oddity about them.

The owner is a raging alcoholic with an out-of-control teenage daughter that we never actually see.

The downstairs neighbor is a starving artist who is quite mentally unstable although he becomes a bit more stable as he becomes friends with Tim and Daisy.

Now if you've ever seen a Simon Pegg movie you know that Nick Frost occasionally comes along for the ride.

He has starred alongside Simon in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End.

Nick Frost is hilarious and he definitely has great chemistry with Simon Pegg.

He also co-stars in Spaced, which is great.

The truth is that every character is hilarious in this TV show. I wouldn't say that one character out does any other character because everybody's got a role to play, and they all play it perfectly.

Now with a title like Spaced, you might assume that there is some sci-fi going on here.

There isn't any. It's actually a very straightforward sitcom about a group of people living together in a flat.

However, it is so well done that you can find jokes that you've missed scattered all throughout each one of them is more hilarious than the last.

There actually is a kind of space theme to the show because Tim is a comic book artist, and they constantly have little flashbacks that involve Star Wars or some other space movie.

Tim is a comic book artist.

Daisy is a writer, but she doesn't actually like to do any work.

Mike is Tim's best friend played by Nick Frost. He is obsessed with the military and constantly is holding a gun.

Brian is a starving artist.

Marsha is an alcoholic.

Twist is a fashion diva.

Is it as funny as Shaun of the Dead?

Is it as quirky and cerebral?

Yes and yes.

If you like any of Simon Pegg's movies then you're bound to love his TV show Spaced.

It's only two seasons long, and there aren't very many episodes, but I know that you will enjoy it as much as any of his other works.
