Why talent and vocation - is complete nonsense
Once a few years ago I had a friend who said the following: "All our troubles come from the desire to have money. Now, if we chose our work by vocation and not for profit, our humanity would flourish."
It sounds fresh and existential, but I do not agree with the vocation.
All of us once lived or live inside the myth that there is such a wonderful, magical thing as recognition.
There such people – geniuses and everything turns out for them, just like that. They are the ones who drive progress. And you’re just a loser, with nothing but darkness ahead you. As a result, you remain idle or in any office you shift the papers.
If you are gifted in chemistry, then based on this, at five you MUST know the entire table and conduct experiments. What about musical geniuses? Mozart, Paganini – with one hand throws a symphony from memory.
Let me tell you a secret: it turns out for those who constantly work on this. Well done for those, who did a LOT.
Such people originally tuned for it. At this time, when your daily routine is scheduled for 10 hours of work for a whole week and you go to have dinner and after that you have a leisurely stroll, this person will forget to eat. Instead, he will finish reading the second dozen of books in a week or finish some tenth portrait. He will spend all 50 hours instead of your 10 hours learning a new skill.
Needless to say, in fact, will these people get better? They acquire their talent, develop it, and do not get just like that.
Many will say now that they are afraid of mistakes. They are afraid that they will not be able to master something new. So, this is the biggest mistake in your life. Because all people make mistakes, there is no life, no business without a mistake. If you are learning something, and you have never failed, then you are obviously doing something wrong. Or, you do nothing at all.
Therefore, all these gifted individuals on posters and magazine covers, who develop robots, write three books a year, get Golden statuettes – they are much closer to us than we think. They just stubbornly honed their skills, depriving themselves of worldly pleasures and joy for this goal.
If you solve physics problems every day, it will be easier for you. If you draw already 20th landscape with water, then for the 21st time you will have no trouble to depict such a difficult thing in painting like water.
Another thing is that a person is a completely non-permanent character. His interests are constantly changing. A couple of years he was captured by the Spanish language and today he does not even remember it. After school, he wanted to become a doctor, became him, and when he turned 45, he found a great artist inside himself, and the well-established carpenter suddenly decided to become a musician.
And while you compare your unsuccessful first attempt with the result of masters’ works, who have been in this business for more than a decade, you will be disappointed and give up everything. And there are people, who take and do, regardless of age and their capability. They just like it.

Btw, I noticed you had 22 SBD in your wallet. if you convert that to Steem, you get (at the current price) 53 teem you can use to power up your account.
I have a list of links that might be interesting to take a look at:

Interesting point of view. Honestly, I believe in talent. I see it, both in myself and others around me and I can trace it back to ancestors. But no, I don't think talent is enough. It's all very well to have a "calling" for something, to be talented at something, but there is a lot of work that needs to go into that, you need to identify what you're good at and work until your hands are raw, until you're exhausted. Only then will that talent and that impulse, as you called it (great word, by the way), actually matter.
You could have an inclination towards playing the guitar. But if you never pick up a guitar, or give up after the first week, you'll never know. You'll never get anywhere.
I think they're both vital in their own way, the talent and the hard work. Because a person talented at painting (which you are) and a person who isn't talented, say they work just as hard, spend as many hours painting - it's that talented one who's going to come out better, isn't it? He's the one who might just make it, so talent makes a difference, too.
But talent you're born with, so you either have that advantage or you don't. Hard work is something you gotta put in everyday and for many, that's quite tricky. Very nice post :)
Thank you very much! I piously continue to believe that each of us in life will find the thing in which he discovers talent and high abilities.
And if this has already happened, then you should not stay in one place, but constantly work on yourself to achieve high results. Not only to show it to others, but more for himself, for nurturing within himself a strong spirit and a real personality.
Great insight on the importance, or should I say over-importance society places on talent. Your article is a good piece of advice to those who are afraid they aren't good enough because it shows that as long you practice, you will eventually get it, no matter how poorly you start off.
More than that, it's also a cautionary tale for talented people because it also shows that if they don't hone and practice their talents regularly, they could end up falling behind too! For example, a naturally smart person could get high marks with minimal effort. But, if they don't study hard and become lazy, then when they eventually encounter a difficult class, they might get disheartened or give up easily because they're not used to hard work.
So, you're right that in the end, it's those who are dedicated and always practice that really pull it off because eventually, they could catch up to the talented ones and maybe even overtake them.
Many thanks for your comment! I am sincerely glad that you share this point of view with me and find my publication useful.
I am always for development and self-realization. No matter what your initial skills and abilities. You can achieve a lot in this world, the main thing is to set a goal for yourself and work on it.
