One thing that can sabotage your chances of success in meeting needs (especially as a startup) is not being curious enough.

Let me explain.

Technology, money, or the supply chain can take the best of an entrepreneur when he's in the customer acquisition process.

However, when he becomes curious and fascinated by the deepest needs of the customer, he instantly gets out of his own head and unleashes his capacity for operational excellence.

So, from day one, I want you to see yourself as a "researcher".

Become increasingly curious about your customers' needs and expectations. Ask questions about your offering, how they feel about your products and services, what you can do to increase added value, and so on...

You'll be amazed at how much customer insight you will have when you start wearing your researcher hat.

This will eventually make room for customer intimacy, and is the crucial step to separating you from the competition in your customer's mind.
