The corporate world is riff with various kinds of injustice and wickedness and as the unemployment scourge grows and takes root, many get buried in these corporate greed and wars.
It is common knowledge that there are horrible bosses as there are insanely horrible employees.

Separating a good employee from an average one is not difficult, especially if we are able to separate hardworking and dedicated people from attention seeking employees driven by pay packages and little gratification.

Many are hard workers, many are horrible workers and at one point in our lives, we all have horrible bosses and have been one ourselves.
Looking back at my years as a corporate banker, I have come to know that horrible bosses are not all that horrible, they mostly are those driven by excellence and unfortunately, they get handed some lazy ass employee. But, there are some who are just mean horrible.

So we will be talking some stuff about these kinds of incidences so that you can make the best conclusions about the horrible nature of your boss or maybe yourself.

  • Is it you or your boss?- The truth is a bitter serum and long after you swallow it, you will still be able to taste it in your mouth. Have you ever asked yourself, if you are a "boss hater"?image.png
A "Boss Hater" is someone who simply doubts and resists anyone in authority. They just seem to think there is an exception to the rule when it comes to them.

Lets be real, there are some toxic individuals who knows nothing more than to work against the team's best interest. The politics of relating freely with leadership is deep and can be quite messy. Only a few willing for the best of the organization can fit in.

  • What if your boss is really smart as against what you think?
    image.png

I call this the superpower traits. many get upset with their bosses because they believe they are smarter. Those who disrespect authority and fight against leadership are the fight to sight a horrible boss.
What if your boss is smarter than he lets on? We are different in nature and good at various skills.
Knowing that the boss may be driving you mad for the right reason is the first step to understanding the way forward.
Most bosses don't appear brilliant, but are brilliant at bringing out the best in people; they can pick the best talents in a crowd.

  • Imagine its you.
    image.png

Put yourself in the boss's shoe and ask yourself what you would do if you are him. Will you be willing to bring value to the organization at all costs or would you just rollover and allow your subordinates to run roughshod on you?

As a leader, you must leave nothing to chance in your quest to get the best talent and that alone can make the horrible trait in you come forth.
When you put yourself in your boss's shoes, you will be able to get an inkling why he acts the way he does.

  • Play the waiting game.
    image.png

Chances are your boss is a horrible person and knows nothing, but it will be worth your while when you play the waiting game. No matter how smart your boss plays his smartness, he will definitely slip one day. You should wait it out and know that no matter how long it takes, it will surely come revealed.

As a subordinate, you are tied to the bidding of the organization you work for, and you must do everything to make sure the principles are adhered to.
Knowing that you are right and being proven right is the best feeling. Wait it out and if your boss is a horrible person and incompetent, he will slip and then it will be open for all to see.

XXXXXXX

After almost 2 decades of working in the corporate organization and dealing with them now as an entrepreneur, the game hasn't changed much. Learn to understand the individuals you work with, only that way will you be able to understand if he is horrible or if you are.

And if your boss is horrible, then deal with it. Stay within your parameters and do your job diligently. If it is you that is the horrible one, look inward and make change. It mostly is not always about the other person...

It's all boils down to the employee's ego, sometimes it's the boss and more often than not it's the employee.

But at the end of the day it all depends on how easy it is for the employee can understand the boss and his motives.

Hmmmmmm
Word!!!!
We are used to playing the victim game
How about checking our value
Nice one

Yes, it goes both ways and when we know what is, we will be able to know for sure who is horrible. Thanks

We do have horrible workers just as we do have horrible bosses, but most times the bosses are trying to turn a profit unless of course, they are running a charity. But just that at times the approach is just the difference, I know a boss that always tells the workers he would sack them for the slightest goof, versus the one that explains what your goof could cause the company and the impact it would have on all of you. You already know who is regarded as the horrible boss by now. That being said, we do have extremely HORRIBLE workers. Some just want to get paid for doing nothing but playing Candy Crush at work time.

There are some really bitchy bosses out there as there are some employees too. I don't get worried about horrible bosses, I just wait to see what becomes of both parties. The truth will always come gushing out! Thanks

The idea is to just get the basic start-up capital, and become your own boss. I think I read somewhere a quote which says you can never be rich working for someone. I do not how true that was, but all the billionaires I know are not working for anyone.

That saying is not wrong but then there are billionaires who worked for others to get to that status. When you pitch your tent with a billionaire, you will become one. Starting your business is not easy but it gets better when you wait it out.

Yeah, at a time they all worked for someone to gather experience and capital to start theirs. I agree on associating with like minds as it improves the person.

I have a bitchy boss who drives me nuts but you know..... I put on the sweetest smile even when I am seething on the inside. He thinks I am the best thing to have happened to his organization. I just do my job and get out.

Your smile will surely kill any hater I am sure. You sure are the best to happen to his organization and before long, he will truly know for sure. Thanks

Thank you sir for the compliment. It sure lifted my spirit.

You always are very insightful!! You know on several occasions i have been on both sides of the coin and i cant connect with what you are saying.
first, except a very wicked person, there is no one who would see you working your ass off most sincerely for the progress of the organisation that will just be plain wicked to you.
i have worked in a situation where i was constantly dropping ideas and most sincerely too, and my boss would always make me know that those ideas are appreciated even when he might not use them all.
I sincerely was looking forward to the progress of the organisation and on the other hand i have been a boss where i wished i could knock some senses into some of those working with me and atimes my displeasure just had to show,
I think the most important thing is to start with a positive mindset that no one just wants to frustrate you and you move forward from there.

I like this mindset you exhibit. Letting the work flow in the right direction will help us all get a grip of what it is our roles are as bosses or as employee.
No one is better than what he truly is, a wicked and insensitive person cannot stop being himself and even if he disguises it, it will surely come forth. Thank you.

All said is true. Horrible bosses and workers all exist. But I believe as long as you work for someone and he pays you, it is the duty of that worer to be dedicated and not lazy around. To be a boss is not an easy one and so it is with being a worker. But which ever we are it is best we do it well .

Although some bosses are extremists but all the same, every worker should always be good until a resignation letter is tendered maybe to be someone else's boss too. Work hard to be a good leader and not a bossy boss. Thank you.

Thank you Glo. Horrible bosses and workers are a plenty and when they act, they mess things up for others. One should continue to do their best and then walk away when its all done., honorable of cause.

I can remember the 1st law in the Robert Greene's 48 laws of power...
Never outshine your boss
Good one boss!!!
