More on the wrongful conviction of Anthony Broadwater, a man who spent 16 years in prison because of pseudoscience and the writer Alice Sebold.

Sebold profited from selling her story, and the deep injustice of her testifying against a man despite having identified someone else in a lineup only came to light when the producer of the movie that she had sold her book rights too noticed discrepancies.

It is a horrifying reality that to too many white folks, all black faces look alike.

Alice Sebold was raped (a horrific injustice) and years later she picked a random black man she met during a chance encounter (he flirted with her) and decided he was going to pay.

And he was the second black man that she falsely accused.

She picked a different black man out of a lineup and said deeply racist things about him.

He paid with 16 years of his life. She got paid for the book and movie rights.

If she’s any kind of a decent person she will hand over the proceeds from the book sale to him.

From Emmett Till to Anthony Broadwater, a black man flirting with a white woman still does so at his own jeopardy.

We are well into the 21st century. How do we still have black men in peril for flirting with a white woman? How do we still have black men being lynched for going for a run in the wrong neighborhood?

And he was the second black man that she falsely accused.

She picked a different black man out of a lineup and said deeply racist things about him.

Sort:

Is she going to jail for this? I certainly hope so
