Brexit Shambles Continues as Extension for Article 50 Requested
In yet another day of heated debates and requests for a second referendum in parliament yesterday a vote was eventually made to request an extension on the Brexit Deal by up to two months.
However, the European Union shortly after the request, made it clear that all 27 nations of the EU would have to approve such a request.
‘Mrs May’s motion to extend Article 50 was passed by 412 votes to 202, a majority of 210. The Prime Minister must now ask the 27 remaining EU member states for a delay to Brexit beyond March 29.’ source
European Council president Donald Tusk did indicate however that the EU could offer the UK a long extension if it wants to “rethink its Brexit strategy and build consensus around it”.
The fun and games with Brexit are likely to continue for years to come, with the eventual result being that the UK will still be tied to the EU in all the ways it was before.
