Theresa May seeks delay to Brexit.

So lobby briefing after today's cabinet meeting goes something like this :

We are going to ask the EU for an extension.
When?
We'll have to see, not sure.
For how long?
Can't say.
What will you say to the EU that might persuade them to agree?
Can't say.

Two questions that could be asked :

1. Do you have any idea what you're doing?

(Clearly not)

1. Have you got any sort of plan or strategy?

(No, we're making it up as we go along).

I'm not surprised by what has happened in Parliament, it's the entirely predictable outcome of the situation we are in after a referendum that catalysed divisions that aren't yet mirrored in the existing party system and brought about a result that now has to be put through by MPs who mostly disagree with it.

However I am amazed by the sheer incompetence of the executive. I guess I shouldn't be.
