Rise to the top
Taylors rise to the top of the boxing world has been faster than a speeding bullet. Her debut was fought at Wembley stadium in front of a capacity crowd and was televised live on national and global tv. In only her fifth professional fight she fought for, and won, the WBA lightweight world title, and in her Ninth fight, Taylor became a unified world champion when she beat Victoria Noelia Bustos to add the IBF world title to her growing collection of belts.
If you take the time to watch one of her fights, its not hard to understand why her promotional team have aggressively pushed her to the fore front of womens world boxing in such a short space of time. Katie is a special talent, which would be quite evident even to someone who knows nothing about boxing. Add to this the fact that her amateur pedigree is second to none, a former multi national champion, a European champion, five time world champion and an Olympic gold medallist, Taylor is a promotional dream.
Cindy Serrano has not lost a fight in six years. She will be making a step up in weight and is aiming to become a two weight world champion, just like her younger sister Amanda( who could potentially be a future opponent for Katie Taylor). The Puerto Rican-born and Brooklyn-raised boxer, could not have chosen a tougher fight to end her year long absence from the ring as Taylor is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound female boxer on the planet.
This will not be an easy fight but I expect the referee to raise Taylor's hand at the final bell. She just seems a class above all her opponents.
