Richard Price, born in 1949, is an American novelist and screenwriter. His work explores urban American life in a gritty, graphic and realistic manner and his ear for dialogue is second to none. He published his first novel, The Wanderers, in 1974 when he was just 24 and became an instant lit "it" boy. He continued writing novels but also began to focus heavily on writing screenplays, including The Color of Money, New York Stories, Sea of Love, and even scripting Scorsese's video for Michael Jackson's 'Bad' music video.

Ladies' Man was Price's third novel, published in 1978. The book follows recently single 30-year-old Kenny Becker exploring the sexual underbelly of Manhattan, from single bars to bordellos to decadent gay clubs. It's both tragic and funny, and written in a gritty tone that only Price can pull off. This is a signed first printing, and I've always loved the jacket design:
