Rare Book of the Day (Bonus Edition!) – The Rainbow Stories, William T. Vollmann. Signed First Edition.

Here's another Vollmann for you guys. The Rainbow Stories was Vollmann's second book, published in 1989. It consists of thirteen interlocking short stories based upon the colors of the rainbow. The subjects range from skinheads to prostitutes to ancient Babylon. While technically considered fiction, much of it is a thinly veiled documentary, with Vollmann himself as the wandering reporter. It's a fantastic book and gives the reader a further glimpse into seeing a master writer find his voice. This is the first US Edition, signed by Vollmann with a drawing of the rainbow:
