Why is the sea bluish in color?

The colour of the sea or ocean is seen as blue simply because when the light from the sun hit the sea, longer wavelength light such as red, yellow, and orange are strongly absorbed by the sea or ocean. However, shorter wavelength light such as blue get reflected back or is returned. This is why the sea is blue in color.
