Steemit in Real Life: Today I Met @hippie-witha-gun at the Library- Anarchism, and Driving Without a LicensesteemCreated with Sketch.

It's exciting to discover that other Steemians live nearby in the real world, and even more exciting to meet them in person.

Today I met @hippie-witha-gun inside a public library, and we hardly disrupted the place at all!

@hippie-witha-gun and @therealpaul meet in real life, December 13th, 2018, at Fayetteville Public Library

It may not be clear to our modern society which one of these characters is a hippie with a gun and which is the real Paul, but perhaps we should presume that both of these peaceful hippies are able to defend themselves and others if necessary, and as a society we should probably also presume that at least one of these individuals knows at least how to reach out and kick a shinbone or two with painful precision, if needed. If these things are then politely presumed by society, then such a polite society as that will get along just fine I think.

Anarchy in a Socialist Paradise

The State, the City and Walmart all pitched in and built this wondrous library, and while I'm sure that @hippie-witha-gun will agree that this place is of exceptional quality, today we two anarchists sat in that library and discussed a society where the State is excluded from the daily affairs of individual beings, and the rulers that we've empowered are made obsolete as society begins to see government as the parasite that it truly is. Knowing that voting and protesting only feeds a parasitic class of rulers and their armed guards, we discussed all kinds of things about roadside police encounters, being debtors as opposed to being free men, and we talked about some of the magical languages used in the court systems.

  • Traveling without a driver's license

We talked about laws and illusions of law, and I told @hippie-witha-gun how I once let my driver's license expire, and how I then proceeded to drive around for two years without a license. I really didn't need an ID at all for a long time, until I tried to mail a package at a UPS store, where they insisted on some kind of ID. Finally, reluctantly, I went and got a new license.

Of course, during that two years of unlicensed driving, I never got pulled over, and I don't know what I would have said if I had, but that's my story of rebellion and civil disobedience that I can share here; two full years of driving without a license. [sinister music here]

Similar Philosophies

I'm not sure if @hippie-witha-gun has a license to do anything, but I wonder if he truly needs one at all. License or not, could it be possible that an individual like @hippie-witha-gun might be free to travel, and that his right-of-way should not be interrupted, and that his business should remain his own business? And shouldn't such a traveler have the right to defend themselves against violence, using whatever force is required? These are the questions that society should ask, and the answers were some of the things we talked about today.

It's cool how Steemit tends to bring like minds together.

So it was that I had the pleasure to meet another Steemian today, and @hippie-witha-gun and I barely upset anyone at the library this rainy Thursday afternoon. It was fun to hang out, we'll have to do it again. The worst that can happen is we scofflaws might get in trouble for talking too loudly in the library, again.

I bet that was a heck of a conversation.... I'm sure that the socialist librarians had their eye on you two law-abiding citizens as soon as you walked in the door.... lol
@hippie-witha-gun dude I thought you bailed... Hope all is well on the home front and the little man is doing awesome. I'll have to swing by and see what I've missed, I haven't been real active in several weeks, too much going on in the real world...

I did bail. Now I'm back with a vengeance!

Sounds like a good conversation. Those are often hard to come by. You're a rebel man. I'd be too afraid of getting pulled over to let my license expire. I guess I hold on to too much fear.

One reason that I ended up getting a new driver's license was that after two years, I started getting tired of looking in my rear-view mirror all the time, trying to make up a story of why I had no license. These days they'll just steal your car (impound it with outrageous fees) and make all kinds of trouble for such a rebel without a story, so I just finally gave in and got a new one.

Yeah the stress of worrying would be too much for me. You did stick it to the man for two years though. Thats impressive and something to be proud of though lol

Awesome!! What a privileged guy to meet myreal, err therealpaul ;-) I know you'll say you're the privileged one since that is your way but I'll always be a wee bit biased! Thanks for inviting us to your kindred meeting of souls!

Haha, I think it was a mutual privilege, Theo is an interesting fellow and individual, it was a pleasure to hang out with him for a while. It really is a small world out there though!

perhaps we should presume that both of these peaceful hippies are able to defend themselves and others if necessary

Nice! I was hoping to meet up with you one day too, since I've already crossed @hippie-witha-gun off my "meet in person" list, although we'll probably cross paths again anyway.

Excellent to see you guys together in person!

If all goes as planned I hope to have the both of you and your family of Little Pepper's over for our house warming party when we finally get the house finished. You can meet Maverick, Bridget, and Paul if he makes it. Everything is put on hold till Spring due to the weather. But it will happen one day! Winter has slowed us down making any progress on the property as far as farming and construction.

It was great to meet @hippie-witha-gun the other day, a small world it is.
Yes we'll have to plot out an 'in real life' meeting, let me know the best way to meet up, and we'll make it happen!
