Another rainy day

Today it rained again

We have had rain for the last 3 days now. A lot of flash flooding has been going on off and on over the last couple of days. And our lake is back. It has been since June of 2017 since we have seen the disappearing lake. Aka the low spot that takes a while to drain after heavy heavy rains.

The big oak tree area is starting to flood

I noticed the area near the big old oak tree area is starting to hold water. We have only seen it a little muddy this is the first time I have seen standing water in that area. But today it dawned on me that we have the perfect breeding ground for all these frogs and toads we keep finding.

The rain is supppose to stop Monday

Just in time for my full day road trip to go take my college kid to two doctor appointments as her car is acting up and they are both out of town. The first is her orthodontist appointment. She thinks they are either finally removing them Monday or will be setting up a day and time to remove them. She is happy about that. I hope she likes her new smile. It cost me enough that is for sure.

    Whoa - that is some serious flooding! Can you put drainage ditches in?

    I can't remember - does that new house have a full basement to worry about?

    Nope we have a crawl space and there is no standing water under the house but we also have a sump pump just in case. And we were talking about doing that and pushing it into the woods.

    Oh good. It would be cool if you could encourage it to flow towards the woods, or maybe install a water feature that it could replenish on purpose.
