All about Maghe Sankranti

As per the Nepali Calendar, We are celebrating Maghe Sankranti today as its 1st Magh, 2075 which fall on 15th January as per the English Calendar. Being a Nepali and grown up in a typical Nepali Society, the "Maghe Sankrati" also known as maghi is prestigious festival celebrated throughout the whole country.

The specialties of the festival is all the good food including ghee, yam, and sweets like Chaku and the holy dip into the holy rivers. It is quite alike to festival Chhath. Fairs are held over the river banks for the devotees and many special programs are held all over the places representing traditional dances, folk songs.

The consumption of alcohol as well as the minor celebrations among the family distributes happiness among the communities.

Maghi simply means the FESTIVAL of Celebration.
