Money for nothing, an empty life....Welcome to UBI

The risk and reward paradigm is nothing new. It is as old as nature itself. It is nature itself.

Why does your meal, your food, taste nicer when you have earned the money to buy it?

Why do you love your first car when you have saved up to buy it, rather than a HP purchased motor later on in life, - which is a much 'better' vehicle?

Why does something – anything, feel more of ,after you have spent the time and effort in procuring the means by which to purchase ?

Ask anyone that has gone fishing, or hunting about the taste of their catch. It is sublime.

The biological organisms we are today, has been forged from time and year after year, season after season, of tough survival.
There is a reasons these things feel so much better when we have acquired them ourselves. When we have put in the risk.

It is a deep rooted genetic program that ensures we continue doing these actions 'of work' - by making us enjoy the effort, especially if it is difficult.

Everything tastes sweeter...

This drive increases the chances of our genes continuing to the next generations. Acquiring through effort, is as natural an instinct as breathing.
It maximizes the probability that our genes are replicated.

The 'job', genetically, has been achieved.

Obviously modern living does not require us to grab a rifle and to go shoot the nearest lump of live venison, to survive .
This is illusory, however.

Someone somewhere, has pulled the trigger, grown the food. The food on our plates, in our burgers - has been hunted by you- with your wage packet.

( without the satisfaction gleaned from hunting.)

Losing that instinct to hunt for food, is to lose the instinct to survive.

Losing that instinct to work for your resources, is to lose the instinct to survive.

It is no coincidence that unemployment is a cause of depression, anxiety and a general poor quality of life.

The thwarting of the basic genetic drive is as detrimental to the quality of life as a starvation diet.

Everyone goes to work, risking their time, and in return is rewarded by a paycheck.

That is why spending earned money is a far more rewarding an experience, than spending unearned money.
Food tastes nicer, your car is something you love, your holidays are more rewarding.

Receiving 'money for nothing' makes everything have ... less value.

If you haven't put in your effort to acquire resources, then spending the the unearned resource is a pale imitation of the pleasures you feel - when compared to putting in effort...

... gastronomically speaking, it's the taste of a McDonald's compared to the taste of porter house steak.

One is function, one is a celebration.

If you have only ever known the taste of a mcdonalds as 'meat' ( bizarre concept, I know), then how can people understand the pleasures of a porterhouse?

When the instinct to acquire - to hunt - has been eroded by the teat of the welfare state and when the option for free money is a more attractive proposition than working 40 hours a week doing a really shitty job - it becomes very dangerous.

If the masses become happy just 'surviving' with scraps of a McDonald's kiddies meal - rather than enjoying the risk of the hunt for a porterhouse..

Some people have never even known this feeling. ... Have lost the instinct to strive.
It is very sad for them.

The pleasures obtained from working, from sweating - to make your money - will be a ghost of a memory in a very dystopian future.

And then the sociopaths, and the tyrants, will have a docile feeble population to rule over.

Human zombies, sent to a slaughter house called Universal Basic Income...

EXactly....u nailed it simply

I pretty much agree with everything you say.

There is nothing more satisfying than earning and paying one's way.

Except!

Not everyone is in a position to do so.

Maybe they are geographically or mentally disadvantaged.

And then there is the question of being fairly recompensed for a fair days work.

Our world is abundant and everyone, I believe, has the right to share in the bounty.

But not to the detriment of human motivation.

(What happened to the pesky Sea life critters?)

xox

lol - firstly the pesky sea life critters - they are a bit fragile, and recovering from their hangovers with Gerald.
The comatose penguin, and Derek , are up to nothing. (Gerald is still on it, on his own).
The adventure will continue very soon...

the painful extraction of 50 years of welfare indoctrination will be a painful one - and there is no way around it, that I can see. (hopefully, I'm wrong).

If a free market is allowed, then the other things will look after themselves.

There is enough for everyone, I agree - but the days of living off others has to come to an end. (yup, and the pain that comes with it for those not ready for it)

It is unhealthy for the individual, and for the whole.

And another thing ~

There should be no such thing as a free ride for a Penguin just cos it's got ridiculously short legs and feet better used to plaster a wall!

There I said it.

xox

😂😂

There is just no demand for Artex in Antarctica...

Reg does have Derek on a daily oral hygiene program now, so he is helping out as best he can..
(plus it saves him ever having to go and catch any fish! - free markets in action !)

Derek & Gerald are creatures of social construct & when they stick together they are at the very top of the food chain. A polar bear or Grizzly (They are actually the same species just a different colour) would tear a Lion a new one if they fought but yet when penguins huddle together to keep warm it would be fool hardy for a bear to try & take a penguin they do try but don't succeed, The penguins keep the young in the middle of the pack & the big ones on the outside stab the bear to death. They can be vicious sods when they have been on the turps lol.

this is a true story -I thought you might enjoy it...

one of the solutions to unemployment for now is to try and take advantage of its own creativity.
maybe playing steemit can also be the solution, hehehehe
