Transhumanism

In the simplest words transhumanism is an intellectual movement that is trying to use technology to overcome human weaknesses. It seems that death isn't only field for doctors but it is also subject for engineers.
The fact that the field is developing very intensively is evidenced by the fact that the Google investment fund is allocating over $2 billions for this purpose. The main goal is to extend human life to over 500 years.
In my opinion extension of live over five times is very distant subject. Contrast to Google which is thinking that we have this solutions over the corner... But there is no shortage of volunteers for tests this solutions by they own.

Neil Harbisson

First man in the world who has an antenna built into the skull. He was borned with rare genetic defect which makes him disabled. He saw the world only in black and white colours. The interest in connection of human senses with electronics appeared in Neil's at his studies, where he and his friend created a device responsible for transforming the colors of the world into stimulus of sounds and vibrations. In the simplest words he hears colors. Neil's day always starting from hearing of colors his clothes. His outfit must sound nice. Harbisson is considered the first cyborg in the world. After having problems with passport photo, he finnaly won the battle to have his device put on the picture claiming that is part of his body.

Moon Ribas

A Spanish artist also recognizing herself as a cyborg. Moon is known for implanting a chip in his elbow, which is responsible for the sensation of earth's seismic movements. Ribas claims that her actions have connection with art. The implant allows her to feel the rythm of the earth. She can arrange her dance based on vibrations from chip. She is dancer and choreographer. Of course, the data are also sent to smartphone. Initially, new, unknown sensations were strongly registered by the body but now Moon notices only those stronger seismic movements.

Fad or future?

I think Neil's case is justified. A person who has never seen any color wants to feel this in other way. But seismic implants is rather wird thing for me. Why do we need to intervene in the body when we can use smartphone with band or something like this to feel earth movements of tectonic plates? On the Internet, you can find several next realized ideas like an implant in the chest creating vibrations every time the owner moves towards the north. It seems to me that Google's plan is still distant and modern implementations are more entertaining. How do they even want to deal with mental or physical efficiency? After all, it's not just about sustaining life for so many years ...
One thing is certain, the field is developing very dynamically and there are plenty of volunteers for testing.
