$500 for Talking on the Phone 🌀 Meanwhile...

in #blog6 years ago

Is this a case of one government hand simply not knowing what the other is doing? Or is it just plain old double standards/hypocrisy? Or worse yet..?

They tell us we deserve a fine of nearly $500 CDN for "Distracted Driving," then from a government owned airport no less, they put up a brand new giant, light flashing and radiating, eye-ATTRACTING billboard that REACHES towards what is literally the busiest highway in North America, the 401. It's obviously a low volume night, but this is a also one of the busier sections of the whole highway.

In case one wasn't enough, they put up a second one on a different corner of the massive property. It's also reaching towards another major highway, the 427 in that case.

I double checked who owns the facility, and if the 401 is still the busiest before making this post...

Hopefully no one will look too long at, or be harmed by these stupid things. But G-d forbid if something were to happen, would it be worth the few thousand bucks of rent every month CANADA?

Raises a good question

Thanks. But I can't believe no one at the airport/government thought about it.

Night time pic are super cool ,did you ever tried light effects ?

No not yet! And I was stopped in the road here, so wanted to be quick.

Ok ,next time definitely try . 😉

Hm.It's serious and important issue...😞😮

I hope it never becomes too serious.

It's OK for advertisers to distract you while driving and get away with it. Advertisements are on everything, like public transport, taxis/cabs, pavement, billboards and even the roads your driving on, but you must pay attention to the road while driving.

My question is, if there is a multiple of cars in a crash because of the sign, does the advertiser get blamed or the drivers?

Well, unless somehow they failed to think this through (which I seriously doubt,) they have decided that both the government, the airport and advertisers have no liability concern here.

Meanwhile, McDonalds has to tell its customers that coffee is hot...

You're right, the issue is liability. But what I don't understand is why what's right and good, is of no concern...

Not to mention that it would be next to impossible to prove that the sign caused an accident. Though of course the gov't doesn't need to show someone ever endangered anyone before being able to issue a $500 fine for texting.

Crazy Fools sitting at desks with no idea of the real world.

Don't you realize that when it's just numbers at a desk, no one really dies?!!
