Day 3 - 9/11 - One Day that will Shape my Life Forever
9/11 is one of those days that forever shaped/changed my life. I remember it was just any other day as a new freshman in high school when I heard talks of some sort of bomb going off in New York in some buildings called the World Trade Center. Before this day I had no idea there were buildings in New York called the World Trade Center let alone several buildings in New York with that name.

When I entered my Geometry class (pretty sure it was class 2 of 4 that day) I saw the devastation for the first time plastered all over the TV screen. For the rest of my school day and the rest of my time at home that afternoon, we as a nation watched as videos were released with new footage. Cell phones weren't as prominent and live streaming as far as I can remember wasn't a thing and wasn't anywhere near as popular as it is today so, for the most part, we sat glued in front of the TV waiting for the latest update of someone to explain to us what was going on.

Since I was a freshman no one could drop out of college to join the military, but I had a classmate whose older brother did. I remember her crying in classes afraid that her brother might die in the military and a couple of years later he did. I had friends who upon graduation joined up with marines to serve the country. A great pride of nationalism swept across the country for years to come, and along with it the mantra of we will rebuild. My 2nd grade teacher who became a flight attendant attended flight school with one of the flight attendants who lost her life in the 9/11 tragedy.
It's weird to think about until a friend who is a high school teacher pointed it out, but the kids who are now freshman in high school weren't even born yet when 9/11 happened. A new generation is growing up that will never know the fear that the nation lived in during that day. Much of what older generations probably feel that were alive during pearl harbor. Overall, I will raise my family so that they appreciate the magnitude of that day, to never forget those that gave their lives that day trying to save others, and to spread love, because the world could use any extra love that people have to give.
To wrap up this topic in the comments below let me know where you were at when the World Trade Centers were attacked and how it affected your life? If you have written your own 9/11 post share that in the comments below and I'll be sure to share an upvote and possibly a resteem!
