Syria: The War is Won, the battle continues

While battle still continues by pockets of ISIS resistance, they remain desperate attempts at best at causing carnage without any hope of winning. The War in itself is won and lost already and has even been acknowledged so by the Trump administration.

The Way forward is to rebuild Syria from scratch. This would be A herculean battle as so many unresolved issues yet remain that will ensure lasting peace. It is pivotal therefore that the World pays serious attention on the post war happenings so it does not become another Libya.

The most delicate of the issues remain the Kurdish Liberated parts of Syria. The Assad regime is already threatening military action should Kurdish militia not give up hopes for an independent state and surrender to the government.

The U. S and U. N needs to be proactive in this in preventing an escalation The Kurds have been allies throughout the battle with ISIS and deserve to be accorded such respect. Dialogue must be pushed as an alternative towards both sides hopefully reaching a consensus.
