A true story of ups and downs in a business that me and my wife owned called Mocha Lounge.

So as I stated me and my wife owned a Cafe/event space called Mocha Lounge. It was a space for local artist to display their work. Local city workers would come to patronize our cafe for coffee, pastries and world renowned banana bread pudding. We also had Poetry nights for our Poets which really was embraced by the community. We were very luck to have an experience like that.

Now the title sez" story of ups and downs". I wanted to express my assessment of the business aspect that me and my wife had not realized was affecting the outcome of our business. So the 1st thing is that, we did not account for the complete dedication of onsight accountability and the extensive overhead cost of the business. The 2nd thing is that advertising our space properly was an issue. We were not aware of all the potential outlets that were out there for us to become the next trending hotspot. But the fact that we worked with the City in order to get some programs, that help small business owners, that have a model and that are written and will serve a purpose as an independent business.

The great thing is that we met a ton of great people along the way. It was a true community type of establishment, where it was a comfortable place to meet up and enjoy our " Pop up" lunches, where we had Professional Chefs come ot prepare lunch twice a week. But in thee end the overhead cost overwhelmed us and it became not profitable for about 5 months which is when we pulled the plug. After we acknowledged that fact, we sold equipment to recoup some of the loss and came out of the situation more informed than when we started.

Now as I'm on the next venture I say that to say this.... never give up on your dreams, your ideas as long as you PLAN a way in and a way out. People create businesses, create a sustainable model and then sell businesses in this day and age or pass them down to family. Find out what you want to do and after you do that go bigger... don't stop. Til the next time Peace!
