So... I'm recycling

Ever since I was a kid I wanted to plant things and grow my own food but where I live, in the desert, as you might guess it's a really hard thing to do due to lack of proper tools and materials, it's not a popular place to grow plants so nobody bothers to bring and sell agro culture related things to our city to sell.
Another one of my concerns is proper recycling and reducing the amount of junk I leave to the environment to deal with.
This year I decided to plant few things while recycling some of the cans an other containers I've been keeping.

Now the question is: will they grow to become full trees or the sand is too salty and the heat is too much...?

My first try is with apple cores. I've been keeping different seeds all through the winter.
