Gods Unchained Impressions

Gods Unchained is a recent buzzword in crypto gaming, it could be the next big blockchain thing. Card games are very popular these days, you can pay and bring few popular streamers to play this game and you have a winning scenario where new players will come in abundance, specially when there is a chance to earn crypto while playing the game. But the most important question to ask here, is this game any fun?

Gods Unchained is basically a Hearthstone clone with some neat new mechanics, don't be surprised if you get hooked, this is a very fun game to play, at least to me it is. I played a lot of Hearthstone so to me this feels like some kind of Hearthstone expansion, but it's not, you need to learn a lot of new cards, you need to learn god powers, some new mechanics like souless, void and such.

There are 9 mana crystals in total, mana crystal progression every turn goes like this 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 5.5 - 6 - 6.5 - 7 - 7.33 - 7.66 - 8 - 8.33 - 8.66 - 9, so basically in order to play a 9 mana card 15 turns need to end, while in Hearthstone 10 is the max mana which you get in 10 turns. In this game if you play 2nd you have will have 3 extra coin usages while the first player has one coin usage. There are also many abilities that will feel very familiar, like protected (taunt), blitz (rush), afterlife (deathrattle) and few others.

In my 100s of games played it seems there are a lot of zoo decks out there, most of the games will be resolved in 6 turns, there are also some control decks out there which will slowly but surely burn you down.

While you play this game you will be hearing a lot about Genesis cards and Core cards. Genesis packs can be bought and you can't unlock those cards without paying for them or winning high in weekend constructed events. Core packs are your free to play packs which you will earn just by playing games and leveling up. One thing to note, this is still in beta so your core cards will be gone and you will need to unlock them again once the game goes live.

In terms of how far can you get without buying Genesis cards with only free to play cards it depends, I managed to get to Auric Gold (tier 9 with 12 tiers total) with only Nature starting deck the game provides, then I started fighting vs a lot of high level players with legendary cards in their decks, it will definitely become harder to advance further with free to play decks after that.

Overall Gods Unchained is shaping up to be a pretty nice game, if you buy some packs with Ethereum your experience may be even more interesting, soon the game is launching and you will be able to trade those cards on the markets. Try it out if you wish, it's completely free to play, to enter beta you can use my beta key vEUyOhkRJT.

Honestly... I found it boring and slow.

The game is currently poorly optimized and some cards are carbon copies of hearthstone.

I played Hearthstone for 2 years, regularly placed in rank 3-5 with a aggro deck.
Hearthstone is magnitudes easier to navigate and understand.

GU does a poor job explaining which card fits where and with which god.
Nothing about the game is intuitive.
With that they will lock card stats after the balancing beta.
That means that many cards will be useless in game and many OP without it ever changing.
One of the problems @steemmonsters is facing as well.
Ex: Lord Arianthus and Ruler of Seas literally break the game due to ease of acquiring them compared to the cards you pay for.

GU rarity system is extremely stupid. From what i see atm there will be no purpose to them outside the animation.
Steem monsters did it much better.

I have around 200$ worth of cards there and ill sell the second the market opens.
Since you have core cards there is really no need for me to hold genesis cards if i can still compete and do dailies for some eth.

Overall its simply a copy of hearthstone that got millions of USD backing and will look (emphasis on look) like a legit mainstream game.
So i have to look at it as such. As a mainstream game with mainstream level of funding its crap.

I played HS since classic, Tazdingo days :)

It's all about the learning process, it would suck if you would know everything right out of the gate. Game "borrowed" some Hearthstone mechanics but there are a lot new ones. In the end I would agree it is a Hearthstone clone, but it still has something new to offer.

User interface needs some work definitely, only because we are so used to Hearthstone interface which is very simple and intuitive. With time that will be worked out.

In terms of packs I just bought one pack to test out the system, seems easy enough, but none crypto folks will hate it.

For me this game is a sign that crypto gaming can go mainstream, but they still have a lot of kinks to work out. Steem Monsters is definitely more rewarding. I will need to wait until the market unfolds before the final judgement, until then I kinda dig it because I'm new, don't know for how long though.

I tried it yesterday, looks cool, sounds great :D That's my pro review haha

Will play it now on stream a bit. Still need to learn a few things :D

Yeah there is a lot to take in with this game. It's definitely more detailed than I first thought when I heard a lot of Hearthstone comparisons beforehand. You will need time to learn the game, with time you will learn what cards can do, you will create your first decks, then you will get skilled, but as in every card game you need to be lucky too. If you start with bad starting hand mostly it is game over.

That's why I don't quite like this kind of game. Too much luck in there even tho' I know that you can lower the impact of luck by playing tactically good. But still, luck is there.

One question, can you see the history of cards being played?

I was also wondering where is that feature. When you mouse all over the screen you can't find the history. Are we blind or it's not implemented yet :)

Really don't know xD But, I heard they will implement duels, that will be cool!
