In this third part on the blockchain technology and the improvement of the environment I will list nine applications related to the health of the oceans.

Due to human activity the chemistry of the oceans is changing very fast, since water absorbs the greenhouse gases discharged by the industry into the atmosphere. As a result of this human activity, the ocean is acidifying and warming causing unprecedented damage to fish and coral populations.

Economic and human impact:

It is predicted that some 8 million tons of plastic are dumped each year into the oceans each year. Plastics and toxins accumulate in the food chain and reach the food for human consumption. It is estimated that around 6,400 microplastics per year are ingested by European seafood consumers.

Impacts from climate change, including ocean acidification:

• Real-time monitoring of ocean temperature and pH.
• Invoiced collection of data on oceanic conditions.
• Incentivization of investments in ocean conservation.
