Let There Be SaaS

Most people have heard of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

If you haven't, here's a brief overview:

SaaS is a way of providing third-party hosted software solutions to customers via the internet.

SaaS is one of cloud computing's triad of major classifications. The other two classifications being: Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).

The advent of SaaS saved businesses millions of dollars in software licensing fees and hardware upgrades; providing a relief from the heavy enterprise-wide storage burden of legacy Hard Drive Resident software and turbo-boosted productivity - especially for multi-collaborator projects.

If you want to know more about SaaS, here's a nice article:

Heavy Hitters into BaaS

Some major players in the sofware and computer technology space have been quietly developing BaaS over the past few years.

In 2015, Microsoft stated that BaaS will be incorporated in its Azure platform and have been steadily developing its BaaS implementation.

Nearly 18 months ago, IBM unveiled the beta version of its "Resiliency BaaS" that offers an "E-Vault Service".

Oracle joined the Linux Foundation's Hyperledger project three months ago, then two months later, launched their brand of BaaS, a hybrid cloud-based Backup Service.

And now HPE has set its sights on providing its Mission Critical DLT/SQL integrated BaaS in the first quarter of 2018.

What's the Big Deal about BaaS?

BaaS is quickly becoming the next tech-territory that all players - big and small - want to gain an early, firm foothold in.

Almost all respected prognosticators of technology agree that BaaS will garner the lion's share of the Blockchain Industry.

The Gartner Group estimates that by 2025, the market capitalization of all businesses in the Blockchain Industry will be worth over $176 billion.

BaaS is a more robust method to document transactions, legitimize records, give permanency to archives, facilitate easy retrieval, and offers much higher security than what is currently available in today's traditional cloud computing solutions.

BaaS utilizes networks of decentralized servers and can be tailor-made to satisfy the needs of any size business within any industry.

About the Author

JaiChai has been in the cryptocurrency and disruptive technology space for well over 6 years. He is an enigma, regarded by his cohorts as sarcastic, funny, intuitive - but most of all, elusive. JaiChai alternates long dormant periods with concentrated episodes of frenzied commentary - only to go silent again.

He’s known for randomly submitting philosophical and contrarian posts on most cryptocoin forums.

When asked about his vanishing acts, he says, "I’m just somebody who enjoys being nobody because I look like everybody. Besides, time checking things off my 'bucket list’ - sans notoriety - is time well spent."
