BUILD YOUR DECENTRALIZED GAME WITH EON PROTOCOL
Cryptocurrency has seen an increased interest in recent years and it will gain more adoption through games. Gaming industry is growing at a fast pace modified by new technologies each day including blockchain technology. This industry is seen as one that will change people’s perspective about cryptocurrency and increase the market size of blockchain industry at large. This is what brought about the vision and mission of EON protocol which is the protocol for decentralised or blockchain games (dgames). This will serve as template for game developers that only need to design the game and blockchain features will be integrated easily.
However there are some challenges involved in developing dgame which include high transaction cost and reduced transaction speed on public blockchains because it will be or turn off for gamers. There is need for dgames to support non-fungible tokens (NFT) also called digital assests. They are tokens that cannot be interchanged with another which create digital scarcity of such token although they can be traded inside and outside the decentralized game. The value of such digital asset is decided by several factors and not at the sole disoretion of developer. Another problem is the use of third party wallets for in-game payments which support only limited versions like having web version only, hence the game will required two different wallets. Aside that a game that support just one cryptocurrency is limited and will only generate less users resulting in low revenue for developers.
Following these challenges, a group of experts initiated the EON foundation and developed cryptoAlpaca, an ethereum based dgame built to understand the issues encountered in development of dgame. Through EON protocol, a layer 2 solution remedies the problem of limited performance. This is known as dgame framework with an on-chain/off-chain architecture- on-chain by the use of public chains such as Ethereum provides reliable and secured infrastructure for all finanacial transctions in dgames while off-chain is set in place to remove the barrier of increased cost and slow speed because these public chains cannot support large scale, logic heavy dgames.
Due to payment challenges, EON protocol designed an in-game wallet SDK feature for game developers. This wallet SDK will address the issue of limited third-party wallets like MEW, metamask and limited public chain that support a single cryptocurrency with its unique features. The wallet supports multiple cryptocurrency payment that can be transferred and used on another gaming platform, also enable exchange of non-fungible tokens. In traditional games, digital assests acquired or purchased from game developers cannot be sold or moved from the centralized platform because they are stored on the centralised server, this has being replaced by non-fungible tokens that can be transferred and exchanged for other tokens because it is truly owned by the gamer.
EOT is the native currency to be used on the EON platform. This is an utility token that powers the platform with its services. Token will be burned when they are released initially; increasing its value and supply is gradually increased when incentives are related after 4 years. Early supproters and EOT holders are rewarded when the network grows.

By Q4 2018, EON protocol test version will be launched after which version 1.0 will be launched by Q1 2019. EON foundation council members also oversee the affairs of EON protocol led by Aron Lyu, other team members- Tao Hu, mark Nedzelskii and the advisory board.
In summary, EON promote increased adoption and more knowledge of cryptocurrency by helping game developers build dgames that support cryptocurrencies while providing a great game experience for users.
