For Malaysia, I will say TRUE especially when the gov tide up the rules and regulation for Cryptocurrency which are widely misused for scam and money game.
Once the regulation are done properly, we will see all those fake project will be discarded and true value project will shine.
I think it really depends on the applications that we see. If the monetary system is moved to individual countries where each country has their own coin there is a very high chance that governments will gain a significantly larger amount of surveillance over their citizens
