Exclusive from CoinNess.com
Bitmain’s 7nm Asic Chip BM1391 made headlines upon its release on Sept 21st, 2018, which reportedly brings the power consumption down to as low as 42 J/T. Along with the debut, Bitmain’s official blog announced that BM1391 is “ready for full-production”. This statement is refuted by a person familiar with the matter, “I doubt they have more than ten 7nm chips at hand. Ten means zero in this business. They are far from mass-production.” Bitmain denied this accusation when approached for comment by CoinNess.com.

The source, who requests to speak on condition of anonymity, told CoinNess.com that he believes the foray of Bitmain’s 7nm chip is more of a last resort in face of a new chip made by its competent rivalry Innosilicon. CoinNess.com acquires that Innosilicon has been endeavoring for a new chip in a stealth manner and currently, the new chip is a “go” at the production line. Though kept as a trade secret, however, the information was leaked on Sept 19th via an internal employee, along with the exact figure of the Innosilicon’s power consumption at the most prime condition, 44 J/T. The source told CoinNess.com that the leak traveled via an overseas community outside of China, changed several hands, and eventually found its way to Bitmain. Within 48 hours since the inside leak, WU Jihan, CEO of Bitmain, inaugurated on Sept 21st the 7nm Asic chip with a power consumption at 42 J/T, 2 units lower than that of Innosilicon’s yet-to-released chip. Later on Oct 14th, Innosilicon for the first time officially debuted its new chip, called T3 48T, but leaving the exact measurement of its power consumption at “4* J/T”. The person interviewed commented on Innosilicon’s intention, “They have learned their lesson with Bitmain.”
