The only person in medical history who went from dwarf to giant

Can you imagine that a person goes from measuring just one meter in height in adulthood to measuring more than two meters? This phenomenon would only be credible in a fairy tale or similar, but there is a medical case, the only recorded in history, which occurred as is.

The most variable seura

Unfortunately, one of the most unique cases in medical history is also one of the most unknown. This is the striking track record of Adam Rainer, an Austrian man who went from being a dwarf to being a giant in less than 12 years.
It was the end of the 19th century and Adam was born in the modest city of Graz. From a very young age his family knew that Adam was physically different from the rest of the children, his dwarfism began to be noticed in his skeletal structure with the naked eye. Over the years the suspicions of his family would be confirmed, Adam, and a young adult of 21 years, only measured 1.18 meters. However, something extremely alarming would happen with Adam, he begins to grow, and he does so at a dizzying pace of about 6 centimeters per year. The years would pass and Rainer, measuring barely more than one meter, would reach 2.20 meters. Obviously, as is the rule in an organism, when an extreme and extensive change occurs rapidly it weakens. Adam, because of the excessive growth, would be weakened and prostrate. With a height of 2.40 meters, he would die at 50 years of age. His only consolation, we can say, is to have been in the Guinness book as the record for the person of "most variable height".

Adam Rainer (Austria, 1899-1950) is the only person in medical history to have been a dwarf (or achondroplasic) measuring only 118 centimeters until, at the age of 21, he began to grow at high speed.

By 1931, Adam was already 218 centimeters, that is, he had almost doubled his height.

This sudden growth weakened him so much that Adam was bedridden until the day of his death, when he was 234 centimeters tall.

When he was a dwarf, Adam already had clues that he would grow up, like very big hands and feet. The first time he tried to enlist the army he used a 43 foot and, three years later, at 18, he already had a 53.

It is not known exactly what happened to Adam. The most common in cases of gigantism is that during childhood develop a tumor in the gland in which the growth hormone (hypophysis) is generated, but the case of the Austrian is extremely rare because it came to seem dwarfed.

After reading this I happened what happens to every doctor-well, ahead of the criticism of Anne: future doctor: P- when he reads about a rare case: wonder why. Unfortunately the case is very rare, in fact it is the only person, of whom there is a record, of having been a dwarf and a giant. To complete the uncertainty, in addition, bad documentation and lack of technical-scientific resources of the time to study the fact come into play. However, let's make an attempt: There are several factors that can lead to induce a person to dwarfism, such as the Achondrogenesis -a defect of bone and cartilage- or the condroectodermal Displays-a congenital disorder. However, in Adam's case, which is obviously a growth problem, the pituitary gland is responsible. Panhypopituitarism, or pituitary dwarfism, is a type of dwarfism that arises when said gland does not produce enough growth hormone. While it can be caused by many factors, such as genetic mutations, or brain trauma, in most cases there is no well-defined cause and can be caused by one or more factors. Strangely, Adam seems to have "activated" belatedly and excessively.
